View Full Version : Losing Jobs as an Architect?
22nd Mar 2012, 4:42 PM
My sim chose the architect profession and has done 3-5 jobs so far. A couple of them though gave me trouble - I go to the location, complete the job without any trouble and call the owner to tell them the renovation is finished. They say great, they'll be there soon to look at it, and ask me to wait there for them. Then, nothing. I wait for hours and hours until my sim's moodlets need fixing and I'm forced to nap or eat, etc. At this point the other members of the household tell me I'm being rude and make me leave (usually after a couple of threats about taking money out of my check for being lazy on the job) and the job is lost.
My question is, is this part of the game? An effort to simulate real life customers who don't want to pay? Or have I encountered a bug?

This has happened to my Sim before. I'm thinking it's a bug, but I'm not really sure.
After telling the client the work is done, sometimes you have to wait for the client to get off of work, adding up in a lot of hours to wait. Then when they do finally arrive on the lot, it may end up being past your "working hours" and you lose the job --- even though you've completed it. The "Tell Client Work is Done" action is gone and you can't re-enable it.
What I've done as an Architect is to never take on a job after 3pm sim-time unless I am positive it will be a short/quick job to complete. This seems to allow enough time to tell the client the work is finished and to have them drive their way to the lot to review the work.
If there is a very unusual long wait time, another thing I do with my Architect is to cancel the "Tell Client Work is Done" action. I then go back into "Continue Working" mode and then click the "Tell Click Work is Done" button again. Most of the time, the client will then arrive fairly quick.
