Played Sims 3 for a couple of days and ended up with some family. At first it was fun to play with, and then, like, well...okay, I'll tell you how it all started.

It all started with three CAS made Sims: The brothers Davis and Nathan, and Nathan's girlfriend, Annalisa. As time passed, Davis became a writer and Annalisa got married to Nathan. Then Annalisa had her first child, Minerva, and since there was no room for her Davis had to move out so he could let Minerva have some room in the house.

When Minerva grew into a toddler, Annalisa and Nathan wanted another child, so they had their son Erich. Since Minerva had a small bedroom, the family moved to a large house so they could let Erich have some room.

Later on, I switched from Nathan's house to Davis' house. Since Davis lived alone, and that I hated to play Sims who lived alone (they get lonely), I let Davis go out and get himself a girlfriend.

After a few days, Davis' match, Anne, was now part of the family via getting married. They visited Nathan's household, where Davis got to meet his nephew and Anne got to meet Davis' side of the family. They saw that Minerva had grown into a child, and Erich was still a newborn.

When they left I went back to Nathan's family. I let Erich grow into an adorable little toddler and taught him how to walk and talk and potty-trained him...quite early. When they were done with that, Erich had about a week before he could have another birthday. On the other hand, Minerva was going to be a teen in four days, I think. Then I got bored and went back to Davis.

Davis and Anne had later gotten twins named Roxanne and Alexa (isn't it ironic that there are three Sims in this family that have Anne in their name?) They had a failed birthday party for those two (everyone there left the party after a Sim hour due to the fact that it was 9:00 PM when I started the party). In that time, I hadn't gotten one of them aged up.

So, they ended up turning into toddlers after the party. I haven't played with Davis' household since.

The next real-life day I was just bored with this family. They used to be fun, but...not much anymore. I let Minerva grow into a teen and cheat Erich into a child.

And now Sims 3 isn't appealing to me anymore. Anyone know a way I can make it seem better? Because I played Sims 2 and I got bored of that as well. :help:

If you got bored of both... sounds like maybe you just don't like the games?

Are you using a story progression mod? If not, I highly recommend getting one.

Legacy Challenges - I don't really do this as I never have time to play, except to troubleshoot my creations. But I see some really good ones out there...like make the ugliest sim you can and try to get the best looking sim possible after 10 generations...or I saw a sanitarium one I'd like to try.

Game Mods and Custom Content - change the feel of the game...Awesomemod and twallan's suite are good starting points.

Machinima - create your own movies...I've seen people get real heavy with this.

Creativity - The Sims are better suited to learn different aspects of modding and artistic pursuits than any game I know. Building a large high quality world in CAW can keep you busy for a year or more.

I go for a while without playing when that happens. In fact, I usually don't play until I find A) a mod that I really want to test out in game, B) I find a reason to go back onto the sims again (usually storytelling) or C) when I get inspiration for a sim or sim family (usually some kind of drama) I give the sims some time. If I play it all the time, I just get bored with it, so I let it draw out and realize (after long periods of time) that "Hmm... I haven't played in a while, so I want to go make a unicorn for my fairy character. YAY!"

Maybe you need a break? o: I used to adore my simmies and play them everyday, but then I got tired. I actually left sims 3 as a poor abandoned icon on my desktop, until one day, I fell upon a mod (or maybe a video) while browsing some websites, and all the sudden I get back into sims 3 again! :D And then the cycle repeats... xD

I've been playing the series for years and years and years, and yet there have always been periods of time where it just wasn't appealing to me (sometimes a few weeks, months, even a couple of years). Then of course once I'm interested again, I play like all day every day for a few weeks and make up for lost time :P

This happens to me all the time. I don't think there's a "Simmer" out there that this doesn't/won't happen to. You just get bored with it for a while, take a break, then for whatever reason get the urge to play and it goes on and on.

I usually get bored of actually playing the game (with sims) really quickly. I only build during that time. Then I go back to playing when I get tired of building. Though I'm probably still more of a builder than anything.

Get a few of Twallan's mods. Before long Nathan will be having an affair with Anne, Davis will be sleeping with half the town and the kids will be coming home via the back seat of a cop car.

Much more fun when you don't know what to expect next. I have played only one legacy ever which consists of the founders and 4 children that have produced 16 grand kids and lemme tell ya, there's never a dull moment!

Conventional, wholesome families are boring. Spice things up with some loathsome characters and infidelity.

Aye. The only family I ever cared about, and still care about in TS3, are a bunch of morally ambiguous "hick" types with strange first names. None of them are like to win any beauty pageants either. A unique appearance lends a certain believability to a Sim. Most in this family have good hearts where it counts. The eldest son's a thief and has two kids with a woman he used to train at the gym. It's not paradise for them, made clear during the eldest brother's bachelor party when, drunk, he nearly took the dancer up to bed with him. He was scolded by his elderly father. That was some time ago now. The eldest brother's younger brother lives with them too, and when eldest is at work in the crime career, his wife traipses around the home in the nude with youngest right there. They flirt... because she's naked, and using the womanly charms of her body, simply because she can, to seduce youngest. He wants to look away, knows this is his brother's wife and his brother's house and to touch her would really cross a line, but...

See? You just need some imaginative drama. And mods, I suppose.

The 'hood this family lives in is kind of borked though, so I've been trying to lose myself in a different family in a different world. So far I've got a husband and wife with 2 kids and a grouchy mother living next door. Husband and mother hate eachother. With good reason. Old hag next door is the only one who can clearly see husband has secret sexual affairs with men outside the marriage, then comes back and impregnates her daughter. Of course, mother has no proof and never brought it up to her daughter. It's just a feeling she has. So she sits next door, watching the husband come and go, seething.

I played the family for less than an hour so far, but I felt bored. I still love the original characters discussed in the first paragraph too much. I wish their world was not such a crashfest.

I DO like the games! Can't you understand I just got bored of it?

And of course, 18 people agree with you, so 18 people disagree with me, I'm guessing...

I don't understand why you think anyone would care about this.
