View Full Version : If you were a sim, what would you do autonomously?

The OMG WTF are you doing thread inspired me to think about this. OK, so we WTF on the sims all the time with what they choose to do. Given the things you're allowed and not allowed to do autonomously as a sim, what choices would YOU make?
I would never cook food autonomously. I mean, there is a free quart of ice cream in the fridge every single time I open it. And I get to eat the entire thing all by myself. So why would I ever bother making waffles and risk making a mess and setting myself on fire? Also, making waffles wastes time that I could be eating ice cream and randomly staring out the window or playing in the sprinkler at 2 AM.
I would never wish for a washer or dryer. I'm no dummy. If I don't have a washer or dryer, I never have to do laundry. If only real life were so simple. I would wish for useful things - like a portable gnubb set.
Finally, I'd leave my poor baby alone so he or she could SLEEP instead of randomly tickling them in the middle of their nap. Do you have any idea how hard it is to get a toddler to sleep IRL? No mother with any sanity would just randomly wake up their baby voluntarily. So instead, I'd pull that parrot that's been in my pocket for a few weeks and play with it.

I agree about not autonomously torturing babies by waking them up! (Although if the shoe were on the other foot, you know a baby will do it to you... still it just isn't right.)
I would autonomously read, but I think I would mix the books more. That is, I would alternate scientific & skill-related books with "A Magnetic Attraction."
I would do "Friendly Hug" oh, so very often. With good enough friends, I would not strictly enforce the distinction between "Friendly" and "Amorous".
If the radio weren't on, I'd turn it on. If it were on, I might turn it up.
There's no use pretending I wouldn't play in the sprinkler. Of course I would. Of course.

I would autonomously eat when I am hungry, rather than standing around moaning about being hungry. I would autonomously go to the bathroom when I need to go to the bathroom, rather than standing around moaning about needing to go to the bathroom. I would autonomously go to bed when I am tired, rather than standing around moaning about being tired. I would autonomously walk around to the other side of the table, rather than standing around moaning about how another sim is blocking my path on this side of the table.

I would autonomously look up into the screen and yell at the Gamer to remove this mod: http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=407210 and not pee, eat or sleep untill he does, all while standing in the doorway of a crowded hotspot to annoy the anointed Gamer looking down upon me...
Not even the all mighty Gamer can come between me and my hobby! :lovestruc

I'd go off out to visit the theatre or park, instead of slowly going "stir crazy" from being indoors all the time. I wouldn't stand and pee my pants when my home doesn't have a toilet, when there is a perfectly nice clean public toilet two steps away on the community lot next door. (Yes I know awesome mod deals with this, but why wasn't it already in the game?).
I'd check my wants from time to time and see if I could fulfil them myself with what my player had already given me.

I would refrain from going outside, around the house, back inside, up one flight of stairs, and down another flight of stairs to get to the room next to the one I'm in, simply because I kept passing a door. (Ok, that happened more often in Sims 2... And I admit to actually building lots that encouraged that behavior, although the first few were unintentional. I even gave myself bonus points if I could get a sim to stop and complain they couldn't get to where they were going when the only problem was that they were "'lost in their own house.")
I would not need a mod to tell me to read a different book when I've read one.
I would not turn on the tv and the stereo, then leave them both running -at the same time- while I go play on the computer. And I would make sure I had them turned off when everyone was finished with them, unless the player turns one back on.
I would remember when there are multiple toilets in the lot, so if one is occupied I would head for another one. And then I would leave the bathroom rather than having a group conversation in there. When someone has excused themselves to go use the restroom, I would wait for them to come back instead of following them in, and if I was the one who excused myself, I would actually go back to the one I was interacting with.
I would not wish to get involved with a married/engaged/otherwise spoken for sim just because he was the first one I met and I was curious to see if he was single.
And I wish that I could Click "agree" for Inge more than once on the same post, because she already covered my biggest peeves.

I would eat autonomously, then after I was full, eat a bit more, then play computer games until I was 30min from peeing, make a mad dash to the toilet and then go look out of the window for a bit....then probably go out and complain that a stray has shredded the newspaper and now it so DIRTY here, take a leisurely bath until tranquil and sleep way way too late.
If only I was a sim.

If I were a Sim, I would autonomously go to the bathroom on time. Because, really, why would I ever get distracted by some other Sim when I need to really, really, REALLY need to pee and I need to find a toilet in only a Sim hour? I mean really!
And I would autonomously clean the house, since appearently SOME Sims just can't keep the house in order! (Glares at my Sim brother, who happens to live with me)
Finally, I wouldn't be distracted when I'm starving. Because...I don't want to die! Who wants to die? Not me!
But I WON'T autonomously leave the house (unless if I'm going to school or work but that's different.)
EDIT: Forgot one--I won't autonomously flirt with some chick/guy when I'm already in a relationship. :)

I'd autonomously be the sim that annoying spends all his time on the computer... right when the other sims want to be using it. >;D

I would autonomously play my piano, that I have dragged from the sims 1 and sims 2 into sims 3 and play it until all my neighbors either go crazy or start dancing. :)

When I wasn't in school I'd be listening to the stereo constantly, watching the telly, and playing on the computer. Either way I'd irritate my master and then laugh like a fool while pointing at him/her until my untimely virtual demise.

Well I would not want to impress every one star celebrity in my hood the very second the stepped onto the same lot as me. I mean what is the real world equivalent of a one star celebrity? That guy who never stared in anything and never was a regular on any show but is constantly a criminal or suspect on every crime T.V. show? SCREW YOU! WHY do I need to impress you?
And If I'm gonna steal things from a room I'm gonna go for the laptop not the pencil holder, because if I'm going to commit a crime I may as well make it worth my while.
Oh and if ONLY the head of my bed is blocked by an object I will climb in over the end OR better yet on the same side where there is still two squares of open space.

I would try to flirt with the sexy homosexual sims and they would refuse all the time. I also would have the Woohoo with The Hot Sim Guy Who Likes To Woohoo With Guys wish. And my lifetime wish would be, of course "Make 20 gay sims go straight for you". Wait, there's no lifetime wish like that? Then my life would be pointless ; (

Whenever the player was away from the computer I would set the house on fire and then lock the doors so the other sims can't get out! Mwahahah

When not being in an active household, i would get married and have kids so that out of 12 sim-siblings, more then 2 of them further the bloodline! i would also not pick my hungry, wet-nappied baby out of the crib, play with it, and then leave it on the floor, and then complain about it crying. (Seriously, EA employees must have had horribly neglected childhoods!)
I would autonomously ponder my surroundings. :D

I would autonomously play computer games until my hunger and energy were in the red.
And I would constantly have the dirty surroundings moodlet from never doing the dishes or taking out the trash.

Troll the player, by moving objects (like dirty dishes) when they were away and forgot to pause the game. Or by selling/replacing the furniture, or by having tons of babies overnight when they're not playing.
Then they'd come back and be like "wtf" and I'd just look up at them and wave my hands around for no reason.
Though I wouldn't autonomously go to the park and try to take someone else's laptop to play games on it... While they're using it. And then complain loudly when they won't let me.

If I were a sim, I would:
1) fulfill my basic needs automously, and find the ways to fulfill them instead of screaming and complaining about being hungry and the need to go to the bathroom. If my house/apartment didn't have a fridge/stove/toilet, I'd go and eat/use the bathroom on a community lot. If I didn't have a bed, I'd autonomously sleep on the sofa, but still, I'd have wishes about buying a bed. The same is about shover, I'd go and get a shover on a community lot (yes, I place shovers on some lots for my sims to get clean and continue hanging out on that lot, instead of rushing home because they're stinking), but still I'd express wishes about buying a shower again and again, untill the gamer finally does it.
2) I'd use computer autonomously, and my gamer would have difficultites making me stop doing this.
3) I'd go to community lots, and play billiard/dance in the clubs/flirt with attractive male sims/sing caraoke/ chat with sims autonomously
4) I'd read only at home, in the library, or in the park, when there are no sims around, but I wouldn't read just sitting on any bench/chair on any community lot, like sims do
5) woohoo
6) take photographs
7) play with cats if I see some.

I would definitely be the sim that walks right around the lot when asked to go to the next room, or who takes 3 hours to eat breakfast when late to work. I'd also break the fourth wall a lot and shake my fist at the sky. Anything to annoy the person playing the game, anyway!

I would autonomously change clothes more frequently than say, NEVER! I would also make carbonara all the time since it's my favorite dish IRL. I would redecorate or move when my Watcher was away and freak her out!! Probably garden and increase that skill and watch the food channel and increase my cooking skill. (Real life? What!!!) Finally, any free time I had when my needs were moderately filled would be spent on the computer (and when I redecorated I would get the best one!)

Talking of 4th walls, as a player I would like to break it so I can irritate my sims as much as they irritate me. I just want to see their aghast little faces as I yell and stomp and wave my arms at them, especially as I am on a diet and get hungry a lot. I'll make them watch as I point to my throat and go "ah-ah-ahgh". Hopefull they will see just how annoying it is, and think about their own behaviour in future.

If there were no magic food in the fridge, I'd call pizza delivery every once in a while when hungry. Or just go the diner next door. Or visit friends and raid their fridge.

Maybe I would autonomously teach my toddlers to walk, talk and use the potty (whenever I have free time to myself) without the person playing having to fit it all in before the kid grows up...I don't really know.
