I just installed generations and created a new household as i always do. After getting it all set up and saving the game i am now unable to click on the sims themselves, not select their face on the sidebar but actually click on them in game, so have them change outfits or something. Everything is fine until i save the game and close the game down completely. Ive tried running the game with all of my mods off and CC uninstalled with no difference in result. My older save games have the same issues now as well, after running them once this issue begins to occur with them. Clearing my caches and resetsim havent done anything either. :help:

This still happens on vanilla, 100% cc-free new Sunset Valley with clean user files? That may mean a corrupt Generations install.
What patch version were you on before installing Generations? If not 1.33, what version are you on now? And the mods are all updated and compatible with this version?

Do you already play with Errortrap mod?
If not, transfer one of the Saves into this new set of user folders, and add Errortrap (google NRaas, if you don't know what that is). If the game can load and Sims clickable with Errortrap in, Quit without saving
Rename the older set of user folder (you can rename the newly created one as test or simply remove it) back, and then add Errortrap and test again.

If you already have Errortrap, have you used the resetsim * cheat to reset everyone?
Or, if that fails, the Reset command from MasterController mod (from the same modder)? In increasing levels of severity:
Sims -> Reset Sim
Household -> Reset Lot
Town -> Reset Everything
