Catastrophics

When it's time for my sims to go to work I always get a message telling me that it's not their work hours and to come back in so many hours for the next days shift. When the next day rolls around it happens all over again.
The car pool never comes either and while I get the jobs for the ghost hunter career there are never any emergencies for my fire fighter sim. I haven't installed any new mods recently so I have no idea why this is happening... Can anyone help please?
I've tried switching lots and new towns and families to no effect.
(If it helps my game is fully patched and up to date, but I don't have show time.)
Edit: I tried deleting caches and removing mods but it made no difference. But I've found a workaround using master controller for now.
