believe it or not im a relatively new user of sims 2 despite dabbling with sims 3 i prefer sims 2
BUT in body shop you can have a great model until they hit the CAS in game and suddenly they all have that silly smile that ruins the model? ive tried mods but that hasn't helped and i now assume we are stuck with smiling sims ?

Hmm I thought the mods do work?
I never understood why it bothered people really. Is it just because it makes them look silly or are you trying to structure their face but the smile is making it so you cant see what they'd look like normally?

That's what annoys me, but I still love the whole smile thing, because if they don't smile, they look like stiff plastic dolls and are boring.

Their smiling, how they react when you change their hair or clothes, has annoyed me for a long time, so now I always create my sims in Body Shop instead. I have a mod that stops the smiling in CAS, but the other animations are still there and I find them distracting.

There is a mod that prevents them from smiling in CAS..you can try to install that instead. It bugs me a lot too...also the flailing thing they do when you pick their clothes...i just want them to stand still dammit!

Very little annoys me. Add this to the list of Things I've Never Noticed. The only time smiling or not matters is when I'm fiddling with their mouths, and they generally sit still for that. In fact there's a couple of CAS sims whose mouths turn up too much at the corners because they looked too cross in CAS.

I adore those reactions myself. Kind of gives you a clue as to what the sim likes/dislikes. Also it's better than standing still IMO because if they just stood still the whole time, it would be more like dressing a mannequin. For me sims are tiny people, so they should act like people when being dressed.

I can't stand the fidgeting - stand still you moron! I have the mods, needless to say.

Doesn't bother me. I like it when they smile and move around, and when they smile while I'm tweaking facial features, I just wait until they're still again. Feels like they're interacting with me in a way they won't do again, once they're in-game. :lovestruc

It only bothers me when I have a really grouchy/unhappy sim in mind. Or one that is super serious and its out of character for them to smile. Ex: Snape or Voldemort etc. You know, they don't typically smile so seeing one smile on that type of sim throws it all off.

I find it helpful, I mean some of my Sims cannot be fully created in BodyShop, I use a graphic editor to take a picture of all the settings I have chosen when modifying my work, in CAF/CAS (Create A Family/Create A Sim), Then return to BodyShop after I have pictures of how the changes correspond to my work then I add the changes in BodyShop and have a successful outcome.
When they smile in CAS/CAF , it helps me to correct problems with the mouth and jaw because I can see the alignments clearly along with the jaws, it can be beneficial to creating at it's best, although sometimes it can be annoying, like if they keep smiling when you want them to make a normal facial expression,
I would like it if there were an option to enable the facial expressions they make in Create A Sim mode by pressing certain keyboard keys that way people could choose what expressions they do and an option to make them loop that expression or just display it once, you could make wonderful creations that way :) Sometimes their Sim smiles can be good because they know you as a creator are there and, even if they are grumpy/mean/serious/ or evil Sims, or good/nice or kindhearted Sims, they smile because you are giving them life in their pixelated world, And even with all their Dark/or Light/ Personalities you as the creator within that moment make them happy.
Edit: LOL I must have been really tired when I wrote this the other day at 5:00 AM, I'm normally nice but not that emotional and nice, I really need to quit staying up late it mess's with my judgement and thought, that's called sleep anxiety or whatever you call it hahah :)
