View Full Version : Where do my skin files hide?

I've tried searching even on google. I've read tutorials on how to skin... but I don't think any of them have explained where the .simpe file is.
I want to open them up in the wardrobe wrangler, so I can make them not 100% dominate. However, I tried using the file in the project folder, and it was still 100% dominate, even after I properly saved, and tried breeding sims many times in CAS.
I tried using the file in saved sims, and the same result happened! Where do I have the actual skin file? Not that I would upload them, but it's the same file as the ones I'd download on here.... I can't seem to find it!
I'm sorry if this is a stupid question! I'm at an impasse!

First, I suspect that you are looking for the wrong file extension: .SimPE? Perhaps you should be looking for .package or .Sims2pack?

Hmmm.... probably! I still wouldn't know where either would be.... :P

It ought to be in your Downloads folder with all the other custom content. Where have you looked?

Where in my downloads folder would the skins I made be? :P I know my downloads folder pretty well... I think! but I could be wrong! Because I'm assuming that my skins are named by a string of characters. :P
I've looked only in "projects" and "saved sims". :

I tried using the file in saved sims, and the same result happened! Where do I have the actual skin file? Not that I would upload them, but it's the same file as the ones I'd download on here.... I can't seem to find it! that saved sim is build with the original skin(from before you started working on it) so it would not change from any BS work since the BS does not replace the original skin but makes a new set next to it (I made my avatar girls that way so I should know this),
which is one of those alphanumerics-named .package files in downloads.
if you want the edited skin to work you need to load the character into the CAS/BS (the one that made it to be exact)
and then replace the skin for what you edited
if you at least imported it the right way there should be a file in the projects folder
(in the folder for this skin-project) for that skin. and this one has the name your project folder has
it should have a set of 40 .bmp pictures with it (if it is all ages both genders)
one of them "swatch" you can edit to represent this skin (so that you can find it in CAS/BS for later use) but you need to do such a thing before import

You might be able to find it based on date modified.

Thank you for your help!
I do know how to create skins. :P It was a great explanation.
I've been making them for a while! I just never knew where the file was saved. If I wanted to upload them here, where would the file be?
