It was a bit difficult to navigate through the forums, so hopefully this is in the correct place. If not, my apologies. Just looking for a little help.
I've searched all over Google and have founds loads of information, but most of it was for people who have some experience creating skins. I have none. But, we all have to start somewhere, and I would love it if I could make my ideas reality (or simality, if you will).
From what I've found, I need to install certain programs, however, the tutorials tell me to make files and, because the programs are zips, I have to extract them to these folders. I have the winzip program to do that and I know how to extract. But, the tutorials I've found are very vague, and once I extract them, I don't know how to open them or even what to do next. The tutorials are a lot of jibberish to me and I get very lost and confused.
Basically, I would like to be able to make my own skin for my sims. I have been seeing some people make 'cat' and 'dog' skins for their sims, so that they look like they have fur, like wearwolves. This is along the idea of something I would like to do. If possible, I'd like to be able to add more animal-like ears, tails, wings, etc.
But, like I said, all the tutorials I've found were for more advanced players and I couldn't make heads or tails of it.
My biggest concern is - what programs will I need to install, and how to open them and navigate through them? I think, once I have the program up and running, I can figure most of it out myself.
And, based on what I've found, I need an image editing program to first make the skin/texture. Is this true? If so, I can easily do that - I just don't know how I would apply that to work on a sim.
SO! If anyone has ANY advice for me at all, or knows of any fairly simple tutorials, that would be super awesome. I got pretty lost in the ones I found and didn't even know how to open the program(s) needed, how to install them, etc. They were very vague and I just had no idea what to do first. So, if anyone could help me, I would be so appreciative!!
