View Full Version : What makes "Sim died on another lot" message to appear?

Well, thank God!!, it didn't happen to me. Now.
But I remember seeing it in the past and also, I believe that's a sign of a neighborhood corruption.
Also, could it be because of a dead token? Because Bella Goth has one, and adding her to the world without deleting the dead token first would result in the message above.

Well, if you resurrect any of the sims in Olive's Graveyard, you will get that message. The reason is because these sims don't have character files. Also, during the producing of the creation of the game, these sims would have probably been created some place else and moved into the current lot in question.

Then, of course, there's the case of Don Lothario --or whoever-- dieing on his own lot but is present on another lot, say Cassandra Goth's. When you load up Cassadra's lot you'll get that message. That's supposed to happen.

Also, if you use the move-grave feature by clicking on a grave (I forget which EP it comes with) you get that message.

I do not believe that this message is a sign of neighborhood corruption. It's usually a sign that the sim has died on another lot, or has been give a death token.

I have only ever seen this message when I move a tombstone to another lot (like a cemetery). It's almost as if the computer is saying, "Oh, no, they didn't actually die here. They died over there."

Oh, okay then! :)
But it did happen to me - I had base game only. Then, my Sim came home from a community lot and was directed to put groceries away. Suddenly, he died on another lot. ?

PS Mootilda - thank you for correcting me! ;)

What really is a Dead Token? Does it make the person not able to be resurceccted?

A sim with a death token mean that sim is dead.

You'll also see that message if you're retrieving a dead sim's tombstone using hacks. Which is the only time I've ever seen it--my sims like to die at home, I guess!

I get that message every time I send tombstones to my hood's community graveyard.

Same here.
What's weird is my sims tend to bring people home from work that are dead. o-o

It's a tag attached to the sim's file which tells the game they are dead and invokes the dead behaviour. Dead giveaway really (for Fivey! You're welcome). The game does a lot of stuff like that. There's a pregnancy token as well, for instance (pregnant pause). Ahem.

If I off Nervous Subject then switch to the Curious brothers' house, I get that message...probably because Nervous was scripted to show up there.
