One of my 1st gen legacy sims is a natural born director, and a pretty good author as well. She has reached the top of her directing career, and suddenly TWO things happened...

First, her LTW greyed out COMPLETELY, with no way to give her another, not even with Lifetime Rewards. Any ideas why?

Second, she gained the ability to write screenplays. But will she still be able to write screenplays if she quits the Director's chair? I would love for her to specialize in screenplays and romance novels....talk about sappy for a soon to be old biddie with no one to keep her warm at night, and she becomes old and bitter and ....ummm....I digress.

Any help you all can offer will be appreciated.

Had she completed her LTW? That is the default behaviour, without mods... when you finish an LTW, there is no way to get another, even with Edit in CAS or with the lifetime happiness reward. You can, however, give a sim a new one even when one has been completed, with Twallan's Master Controller mod.

If she HADN'T completed her LTW, you have some kind of a bug, and should try the help forum :)

Don't know about the screenplays... but there's a simple way to find out... save your game, quit the job, and see if you can still write screenplays. If not, reload without saving ;)

You shouldn't be able to. The screenplays are like reports for the police career-tied to the career itself.

Thank you, both!

Yes, unfortunately, screenplays are only "unlocked" for as long as you stay in the Film Career. It's as if EA believes that you suddenly forget how to do something you've done many times before (and that requires no special career-specific equipment) simply because you want a change of jobs.

Hmm, I'll have to add that to my near-infinite list of Things-I-Must-Learn-To-Mod - assuming I ever get enough free time to work on it!
