Every single time i buy the deep fryer and the ice cream machine in the store which are from the Fabulous Fiesta! set from The Sims 3 Store (http://store.thesims3.com/setsProductDetails.html?productId=OFB-SIM3:50390&categoryId=11488&scategoryId=13508&pcategoryId=13507&ppcategoryId=12861) my sims suddenly become addicted to it. For example, i have my athlete sim who is married to a SHT singer. sadly, the guy always eat deep fried ice cream fritter for every meal, everyday -_- which is kinda depressing.
Any ideas? did that ever happened to you? it's getting out of control for me

Yep, it always happens to me. I really like the machines but it does begin to get on my nerves so I put them in the family inventory when I'm not going to use them. I hope someone comes out with a mod ;)

My sims don't even bother using the stove anymore. If I try to have them make macaroni or something, they always stop halfway through, turn around, and make deep fried things. -_____-

The BS answer a Guru gave on the BBS was that this happens when you use the mailbox cheat to make everyone's needs always full, if you want to believe that.

Glad I got the MultiTab instead. I had a choice between MultiTab and Deep Fryer/Ice Cream machine and I chose the MultiTab with the last few simpoints I had. I'm still going to get the other 2 one of these days when I get more Simpoints but good to know about sims getting addicted to it :)

I had to take these out of my sim's home because it was getting ridiculous; they weren't even eating the leftover deep fried bacon in the fridge!

You have to sign up on their website in order to access their mods. :) Luckily, both are still there.

I haven't tried this yet, but I've read that you need to increase your Sims cooking skill. When sims have a low or non-existant cooking skill they'll gravitate toward the ice cream maker/fryer because it's prefered food type that doesn't require a skill level to make.

What kind of drugs did EA put in the ice-cream...

It's funny that one of my sims mastered the cooking skill and after i bought him the fryer/ice cream maker he became addicted to deep fried food xD

As I said, I didn't test it. What I've seen so far is, new sim no skills = glutton for ice cream/fried goods (almost a looping cycle of binging/sickness/more binging). But I've had sims with some skills that still were addicted and others that rarely touched it. The ones that barely touched it were in houses with pool tables, video games, karaoke machine, etc. Leads me to believe that you have to also have strong competition from other objects that advertise fun. But again, I haven't tested this out.

In the house that i played, my sims had all that as well: pool table, video games, karaoke machine, dominos table.. and still the entire family deep fried and ate ice cream ALL the damn time. so i dont think that theory is correct. good try

My sims don't even EAT the food. They fry it, place it on the side, the go to fry more. Recently I had some sim kids out in the garden for a sleepover and during the night, the kids' father decided to make some ice cream. EVERY child got up (psychically) and walked all the way upstairs to get some. It's a wee bit annoying.

My sim family's daughter had her boyfriend over, and instead of them watching movies and playing hopscotch all night, he parked himself in front of the deep fryer and made about 12 plates of deep fried fritters >> I only buy it once in a while then sell it back quickly.

Every sim are addicted to the fryer in my game. Not only the sims living in the house but also the posman/woman also come into the kitchen and use the fryer!

That's pretty much why I began locking my sims doors.

I never had the problem of my sims always going to the deep fryer... Until I read this forum... Unless I just didn't pay attention to them. I did notice other sims going to use it though. Door locking is my best friend now. xD

My sims are OK with only ONE appliance at a time. The fryer is pretty popular, but when you add the evil ice cream maker from hell, it all goes downhill from there. It's amazing how nasty the kitchen can get with those machines, I mean super disgusting. I never had my sims with the nauseous moodlet over a trashed room ever before this. And I just hate the stuuuuupid ice ream recipes sims can combine with the fryer????? I mean, ice cream fritters... seriously? It's is so pathetic it's funny.

Ice cream fritters are an actual, real food item. The trick is to get the oil in the fryer up to the right temperature so that it quickly cooks and crisps the batter on the outside (without burning) but still leaves the ice cream frozen in the middle.

But I will agree the kitchen gets hella nasty very quickly, took me ages to see where the dirty surroundings moodlet was coming from before I realised it was the ice cream maker.

I finally got around to getting these 2. So far I've put the ice cream maker in my sims house. I've got a problem with mine. My sim just keeps making the ice cream and not getting the end product and all they do is make and make but no ice cream.. I get dirty machine, dirty counters, dirty floors around the counter but no ice cream to eat or see just sims continuously making ice cream. It's REALLY annoying. Anyone else run into this problem? I haven't tried the fryer yet, I'm scared they'll just keep frying stuff and burn the house down.
