View Full Version : Adoption: Townies or Random?

I'm very curious as to how often actual townie children are adopted, because I've adopted three times in my custom hood, and the children all seemed to be randomly generated. Is it generally just newly-generated children? Or is it 50/50? I want to know, because I want to get some of the pre-made townie children, like Marsha Bruenig.

Sure, Marsha might be an incessant caller and drive some players crazy, but I've heard she makes a beautiful teen and adult, and I'd love to add her to my founder family, or one of the others. She seems pretty lonely, and I know how loneliness feels.

Also, I like adopting children because in real life, so many children are waiting for adoption and are getting to be past the 'cute' phase, so they get passed up by lots of prospective parents. They need parents too!

I've only had randomly generated kids, then again, I haven't tried adopting any children yet. Only toddlers and babies. Usually, when my sims adopt kids, they try to hug them, and the kids rejects them. Then, the kid hates them forever. It's annoying.

That's odd... because I've read that sometimes townie kids end up in the adoption pool as well. I've even seen a screencap of Marsha Bruenig being adopted. Or is it a screen hoax?

It's possible, I just haven't had it happen, because I haven't adopted any children in my current hood.

Would it be possible to add Marsha to your household and then just add an adoption memory through SimPE or similar?

Or is there a mod that allows you to move townie children into your household to get the "Marsha joined the family" memory?

Then again if you aren't too big on memories just add her to the family and pretend her to get adopted.

What I do when my town gets large enough that the townie children aren't being brought home from school anymore. Is I add them to someone's household, and then send them to the adoption pool with the simblender. You could also just straight up adopt them with the simblender, but you wouldn't get any memories of it. Or even add them to a house hold, and then neglect them enough/kill off the adult for the social worker to come.

Other than that, I don't think you can adopt townie children. Although it would be nice if there was a mod out there that has the adoption agency pull from townie children when there are no premade children in the adoption pool.

Using Inge's teleporter cat, summon Marsha to Ottomas household. Click on put sim up for adoption and make sure I select Marsha. Direct Peter to call Social Worker. Make sure I click on child the next day. Voila! Marsha is now an Ottomas! (Marsha just belongs there. Instant mega-family, no need to phone-stalk anyone.) Added plus: Dora considers Marsha to be grandchild #4 and the twins to be #5 and #6, thereby becoming permaplat.
Brittany whatever-her-last-name and the Bluewater Village boy fit in with the DeBateaus nicely. Chloe becomes a Kim. Orlando goes to the Tinkers. Yes, I do have opinions on who would adopt and why, and which child belongs where, don't I?

From what I've read only kids taken by to social worker are in the pool, so not townies. If none were taken, it's random.

Since they're randomly generated does that mean that my adopted sim will be generated with the new default face templates?

New adoptees should generate with replacement face templates, yes.

As well as any other custom genetics or townified clothing you've got in your game.
