Well since the game is starting to freeze on me after installing Fun with Pets I might re-install or just uninstall fun with pets. Do you know where I can find custom content that just requires..

Sims 2, Nightlife, Celebration stuff, and Seasons?

Since so far it just worked with those and didn't freeze really, only slightly in the intro. And I most likely only can play those expansions because of my suckish laptop. And I know laptops aren't made for Sims 2 but its better than a broken one or none. If you want to know about whats been going on with my game ask me.

What kind of content, exactly?

There's a crapload.

I believe you can set the filters on the download pages here on MTS to just show only objects that require the EP and SP you have. When you're on the Sims 2 download page click on "Click to show or hide the filter boxes (to change your download drilldown view)", then click on 'Show Selection', then 'Requires...' and you can select those EP/SP only to filter compatible downloads.

Edit: Hmm, actually I just tried that and it doesn't seem to work (although maybe it's just me being an idiot)...but you can edit your MTS profile using the User Tools in the top right to say you only have those four games installed, but click on 'Compatible Downloads' instead of 'Requires...' and then select 'Go'. That does seem to work okay.

@Flvey - Well hair and clothing mostly..

@Phoeberg - I know you can, when I do it for my own expansions I can have so far there shows nothing for Sims. I can try that, so thanks. I'll report my findings after someone else posts so I do not double post on accident if your not allowed to do that. If I had all my expansions as before I could keep my other downloads but it kept freezing. And I admit people said if you have on board graphics it wont really work or something.

Most hair and clothes is BG compatible, because a lot of CC is new meshes. That should not be a problem. Anything that isn't BG compatible means that isn't a new mesh.

Basically, look for stuff listed as a new mesh.

Alright. Thanks! I saved my downloads page to keep looking and such. One more question, even if it doesn't partain to this. I have saved sims from my last game before uninstalling and also a neighborhood, but I already created a hood and its N004 and my other one was to. If I rename my neighborhood to N005 and put it back in with my sims will it make it crash more or no? It's not one I downloaded so yea..

I'm not sure why this is in Sims 2 Popular Threads - I've moved it back out to regular old Sims 2 Discussion for you. :)

If you uninstall FwP and go down to a game where Seasons is your latest expansion, I doubt that a neighborhood created with FwP installed will work. Since FwP includes Mansions & Gardens, it will have been running with the Apartment Life game engine, which is newer than the engine that Seasons uses. It would be like trying to use a lot that requires an EP you don't have. Crash-ola. I'm not sure about saved Sims, myself, but I really don't think you can go "back in time" like that...although someone like Mootilda might come along and say that I have no idea what I'm talking about.

So, if you're going to reinstall, I'm going to say that you'll have to do without your pre-uninstall neighborhood and possibly (probably?) your saved Sims. I mean, you can always try it out, of course. I don't think you'll damage anything, especially not so long as you have a backup of any "pre-experimenting" game you might have played in your new config. But my feeling is that it ain't gonna work. :(

Oh okay~ And dam I was so far.. Well the third generation I think of my real life family. But I guess its okay to start fresh. But what sucks is when I just had the expansions/stuff packs like Celebration stuff, nightlife, and seasons it didn't crash except for maybe freezing for a minute on the loading screen to the menu with where it fills the boxes with color. So if it keeps crashing now with FWP than I will uninstall it and hopefully all will be fine.

I would say that before you uninstall, you might want to make sure that you have no hacks/mods that need updating to the AL version. I know that when I bought FwP, so that I could have M&G, I had crashing and weird behavior at first because I had earlier versions of hacks that weren't compatible with the AL engine. It took me a while to get everything updated, and some things I just had to abandon because they'd never been updated and weren't working correctly...but some never-updated hacks/mods also worked fine. So, if you play with hacks, that might be your problem, and getting rid of FwP might not be necessary at all. But you might have some work to do. :)

Ah I see. and I haven't installed a ton of things this time, just two downloads that aren't big.. or three downloads. But they were like Walls&Floors and one was face scars. And I just downloaded them yesterday. But I see what you mean. But also it could be my C drive too and the fact I have no actual graphic card that its causing it to freeze but it worked fine awhile ago.

Unfortunately, if your C drive is dying, then unfortunately I don't think uninstalling FwP is going to solve/improve anything. It's just a matter of time. Is it grinding when it spins? I hope you're backing everything up.

As for no graphics card, it's true that the more EPs you have, the more the drain on system resources, so uninstalling FwP might help, since you're losing an EP plus two SPs. As I understand it, though, the game isn't really designed for a machine with only integrated graphics, like pretty much all video games. So, it might just be a matter of buying a separate video card. One that will run TS2 perfectly well can be had for pretty cheap, since, as a somewhat older game, you don't need a current top-of-the-line card or anything. Just something not soldered to the motherboard and with an appropriate amount of dedicated RAM and preferably with its own fan. I got one that's more powerful than it needs to be for TS2 purposes for about $80. I'm thinking a "good-enough" one can be had for $50 or less, and installing them is not particularly onerous and is something you can probably do yourself.

Ah wow. You go in detail more than anyone I received answers from so far about the situation. And it isn't dying or making a grinding noise. There's a clicking noise that happens but its most likely my fan but there is no way to it from what I see. Maybe soon I can buy one, but right now money isn't good so eh well. Maybe if FwP keeps freezing Sims 2 will work just with Celebration stuff, Night life and Seasons.
