Can't take in game screenshots with windows 7

I recently got a new computer with windows 7. I use screenhunter (not the game's camera)to take screenshots but with windows 7 I can't take any screenshots in game. I keep getting screenshots of whats currently on my screen or just my desktop not of the game. When I had xp, screenhunter worked fine. I have tried a few different screen capture software and they all do the same thing. If anyone can tell me what program to use, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I use screenhunter when I need to have the mouse pointer. It works fine on my Windows 7 system.
What do you mean it takes the Desktop image, and not the game? Even when the game is in the foreground? Are you in Fullscreen or Windowed mode?

If I'm at the desktop and start the game, then for try to take a screenshot during the game, screenhunter takes a screenshot of my desktop not the game. I prefer to play the game in fullscreen. I just started my game, entered my house and took a screenshot and it captured my desktop, not my game. When I had xp, I didn't have this problem. Ok, changed some settings in screenhunter but now all I get is a black screen. Will I need to play in windowed mode to be able to take screenshots?

I don't use Screenhunter- I use Gadwin with Windows 7. But I used to have the same problem- I either got my desktop or black pictures. (There are a lot of suggestions on how to fix that but none of them worked for me.) I ended up having to play in windowed mode- I still get screenshots of the whole desktop, including the game window. But it's easy enough to crop that little bit of desktop out of screenshots.

Re: playing in windowed mode. I resisted that for the longest time because it's a bit trickier to move around in game. Now I love it- once you get used to moving around it's awesome..especially since you don't have to tab out of the game to do something else on your computer.

Well, just in case anyone else has the same problem.. this is for/about Gadwin, but should help out with any other screenshot program if the settings are similar:

Just be careful if you are using Windows 7.... either turn off the W7 Themes, or run the game in Windowed Mode. The themes prevent Gadwin from recognizing that your game is running and all you'll get is a printscreen of your desktop. If you want to use the themes and run in windowed mode (How I do it...) all you have to do is right click on the desktop icon, click Properties and in the Shortcut tab where you find Target, click one space (spacebar once) then type -w.

Another thing I read (and not worth linking to the full thread) is to try running your program in compatibility mode. That's something I don't think I tried so I'm not sure if that would work or not.

Thank you mustluvcatz. I think i was trying so hard to find a solution that it was right in front of me the whole time, well that and my 9 year old son saying mom just use fraps, duh lol.
