View Full Version : Borked save file - now it disappeared!

I have been playing and decorating my family's new home for the past day, and I shut it off normally to go to bed. When I wake up in the morning, my worst nightmare greets me - a blank family photo and a blank lot picture. Another corrupt save file!
I follow the usual instructions to load my .backup file from My Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/Saves, but then when I load up the Main Menu this time - the save (corrupt or otherwise) has completely disappeared! No errors, popups, crashes or BSODs prepared me for this.

I only ever had this type of problem once, and I have a limited amount of mods (but a fair amount of CC). Has anyone had this type of problem before and managed to fix it? Any help at all would be much appreciated. :(

P.S. I'm running Sims 3 with Pets and Late Night EPs installed, with no other EPs or SPs. I do however have a few worlds installed that require other EPs to load and, although they don't work, I'm not deleting them so as to keep them for when I DO install the EPs. Could this cause problems? :noob:

Personally I would go through Installed Worlds and move everything that doesn't work into an archive to keep it out of the way. I don't know if they cause trouble or not, but they do clog things up. You can restore them when you need them, and you don't want to risk accidentally using one.

I think we probably need to see your system specs, but in the meantime check your recycle bin and see if the saves are in it.

Thanks for replying - removing the Worlds hasn't made a huge bit of difference I can see, but I guess it doesn't hurt to remove them (also stops me trying to load them by accident!)

No saves in the Recycle Bin besides the .bad files I encountered while trying to rescue my broken save files. Attached are my general system specs.

Sorry for the slow reply, too.
