View Full Version : Custom Content not Showing. [SOLVED]

I am using a Windows 7 OP and have never downloaded custom content onto one before, but I assume it's the same as vista.

-I am downloading content such as skintones and hair into the Downloads folder which I have made by loading BodyShop as opposed to making it myself (To make sure it's done right)
-I make sure I have all meshes needed for whatever I'm downloading.
-I extract all files that I need to before they go into the specified folder.
-I've made sure I have all EP's needed for the downloads.

Honestly, I have no idea what is wrong with it. I've followed intricate guides on what might be the problem and nothing works. It's not even showing an enable/disable box as it should once I load the game.

The only thing that has worked is some car texture file that my nan placed on here once.

Anyone have any ideas? I would be so grateful. :)

SOLVED:

Apologies guys. This was baffling because as it turns out my nan does not own WinRAR. And although this is the case I could still extract some files so I was under the assumption I did have WinRAR on here. If anyone else comes across this then here's your solution.

Are you running a combo pack, like Double Deluxe?

Do you have two 'Sims 2' folders visible in your libraries?

Thanks for replying, I'm not running a combo pack but there are two folders. I tried it in both and it doesn't seem to work.

Do your bodyshop items (skins for example) work if you put them into the SavedSims folder?

I had to make this folder so I'm not sure if it's correct (Named it SavedSims exactly next to the Downloads folder and other such folders). I pasted the skins into the folder and it still did not appear. I could only assume from this that the file is damaged and does not work, except I must have had over 20 different downloads yesterday and none of them worked. At the moment I'm only using two skins to keep it simple and have deleted the others.

I have no idea about the Bodyshop folders , as I've never used that program , but on Windows 7 my path to place downloads in game is Computer> Drive>Users>your name>My Documents>EA Games>The Sims 2> Downloads> (Optional) Subfolders. Once I've used Clean installer to install sims (or lots) the cc , such as skintones from sims ,is stored in my DL folder , not the SavedSims one. If you aren't getting the enable cc popup automatically , try putting that car texture file( or anything) you mentioned in that path and by clicking on options try to make it appear. I don't think skintones or hair require CEP , but I'm assuming you have it anyway. Good luck!

I got a little lost there but I did try going into create a family and the skins were still not showing up so I definitely know they are not working at all. It is in that exact path as much as I am aware and I have just double checked. I only used the SavedSims one just now to see if they would work in bodyshop and they don't. I had a lot more than just skin and hair packs such as clothing, eyes, makeup and I made sure I had all required meshes.

Honestly, it's baffled me. I've no idea what's wrong with it what so ever haha. Also, what do you mean by CEP and clicking on the options to make it appear? Sorry- I'm not entirely Sims savvy or computer savvy.

EDIT: Should these files be rar files? Just blank white files, and they cannot be extracted.

The same thing happened to me. If you can download from Sims2.ea.com, but no where else, make sure CC is enabled in your game. I totally thought it was in my game, but nothing showed up, except for sims2.ea.com stuff. So, I looked and, there right in front of my face, CC was disabled. :) I hope this helps!!
