I have been trying to install the sims 2 university for at least 7 hours now... I have been on the Sims 2 site and nothing is working from there so I thought I'd try this site.
Does anyone know how to fix this error (it comes up after 68% of the download is complete and gives the option to retry or cancel installation) A Problem occurred when trying to transfer the file 'E:\TSBin\Ts2upd.exe' from the media.
Some people have the same problem but no one (at least that I talked to) has firgured out what to do. Some people took the game back to the store but i already threw away the reciept and I dont want to go through the trash to find it.
I have tried just about everything there is to try and i was thinking that maybe someone can copy the file or something for me? Thanx for your help!
P.S. Sorry if this is in the wrong section but this is my first time actually posting on this site so ya.

I had this problem too. It came up for me at the start, then again at 64% through 68% of the installation. I just kept hitting retry over and over, it eventually went through.

yes, it eventually installed, I'm playing it now. I just kept hitting retry, well over 10 times.

Hoky21:

Did you read my FAQ? Normally an install will pause for a long time if the original game was not patched with the 2nd Maxis patch. Please read my FAQ. It's in the sticky.

The same thing happened to me and after a few frustrating days and my 4th copy (I kept going back to Best Buy to exchange it) it worked. {Don't thinkl I just popped it in and said Oh it doesn't work I'll just send it back. I tried for hours with each copy. Nothing is more frustrating that having a bad copy and it's 1 AM and of course the store is not open. Anyways getting off track....}
For some reason my copy stayed at 68% with the same error message. . I also tried the hitting retry until the bar got to 100% but it never did anything after that. I went to the tech support at the Sims2 site but nothing worked and the answer I received from EA tech support was not even related to the EP. Go figure.
When I had the working copy at that same percentage it prompted for the second install disk and I finally got to check out the game.
Hopefully it works for you with going through all these hoops.

:werd: And finally the silence is broken by MarlaRav, but does she really have much to say??????????????

I had the same. Seems as it is rampant with this shipment. Here's how I solved the problem:

I copied the first disk to my desktop in a folder. Then I ran the installation from the desktop. When it asked for the second disk, I put that in my dvd drive and installed. Then it asked me for my dvd disk and I inserted that disk and it finished the install. I have the dvd copy of sims 2 so that is why it asked me for that disk. If you don't have that copy, I don't believe it will ask you for another disk.

IF your first disk will not copy, THEN exchange your copy of TSw University.

Hope this helps ya'll.

can someone who has succesfully installed the game please post the file TSBin\TS2UPD.exe somewhere so us that are having problems can just download it. i'm on my third copy of the game and i still can't get one to install. i've even tried installing it on my mom's computer, no luck. just messed up disks, Maxis should really do something about this. its getting ridiculous.

The reason is because you have a hack (most likely the censor patch) still installed. This is preventing the update from installing. The problem I had was the CEP patch was still located in my deep registry. I have a program call Registery mechanic, that I used (after uninstalling the game and starting over) to remove all TS2 files. It is a good ideal to back up your neighborhood and downloads before doing this. I do not know if this will fix your problem, but it fixed mine. But either way, you will need to remove all hacks, and after the game is running right, reinstall them one at a time.
Hope this helps... Tufftango
