Is the first time you have tried to play the game or have you been playing for awhile? If its the first time then it could be a bad instillation, if it worked before it could be a back ground program causing the crashes.

Do you just see the splash screen, then it dumps out onto your desktop? Can you get more specific...in other words, what exactly is it doing? Does a windows box pop up?

If you're just getting the splash screen and then it dumps out onto your destop, try deleting the "Groups.cache" file. Go into your EAGAmes/Sims2/ and look down the list (mine is towards the bottom. You should see "Groups.cache". The game will make another one once it starts up again. I've had to do it a few times. It always happens after I have deleted things in-game. Be sure and read the "stickies" in this forum. They have this info and a lot more for problems. That's how I found it. Good luck, hope it works for you!

Thank you Jlkeal! I just started having this problem where my game gets to the loading screen, and gets all the way up to the part about the Secret Societies...and then boom, it crashes back to my desktop, and the little box comes up and says this application has crashed, or something like that. I'm gonna try and delete the Groups.cache because I've been organizing my downloads, and deleting things in-game...so I'll see if this works.
Just wanted to say that it worked for me!! My game is loading up just fine now. Thanks!
