Hi,

I've made some eyelids and eyelashes myself and I'll try to explain how you can make them the way you want them to look.

The eye make-up consist of two files, the alpha and the texture images. The alpha decides which parts around the eye are going to be visible, unvisible or transparent. All that you paint in white in the alpha, will be visible, all black areas invisible and if you use grey shades they will be transparent. The darker the grey, the more transparent.

So, the alpha is the picture you have to edit to make lots of little lashes around the eye, in white so they will be visible. If you want to make an area that gives the impression of an eyelid or globe line, you have to make a curved line in grey or white in the place where you want it to show.

The texture file is where you put the colours for your makeup. If you have a graphics editor that supports layers, you can copy the alpha file and use it as a layer underneath the texture file when you paint the colours. Make the texture semi-transparent so the alpha image shows through. Paint the same areas where you made your lashes and eyelids on your alpha image but on the texture image instead. Remove the layer with the copy of the alpha when you're ready.

Save the new texture and alpha files (overwrite the old ones).

Because of how the mesh curves in the face, some think it's rather difficult to make facial make-up as the flat images you paint distort quite alot when you look at them in Bodyshop. With some practice you'll get the hang of it though, I'm sure.

Good luck! :)

Also, you can download (like at Mermaid Cove) 'eyelid' makeup for your sims - so you do not need to create the eyelids yourself. I'm not clear if Nixie was really asking how to create custom eyelids or if she is just making custom faces and wants the eyelid effect.
