Lara wanted the exterior of both houses to match, she isn't much of a gardener so she decided to have just a few plants and cover the soil with gravel so she wouldn't have to do too much weeding.
Edna brought as much furniture from her old house as she could fit, she particularly wanted to make sure there was room for her antique piano as she couldn't bear to throw it away.
She also has a microwave and mini fridge tucked behind the stairs so she can make some snacks and meals without going to the main house, although she does prefer eating with the family.
Edna has more of her old furniture in the bedroom, including her favourite old recliner where she likes to sit and watch TV.
The dining room is mostly furnished in Lara's modern style although Edna insisted on putting a few of her ornaments on the mantelpiece as she uses this part of the house too. Lara is wondering whether she could get away with "accidentally" breaking them!
The kitchen is also modern, with just a couple of additions from Edna on the counters!
Lara managed to keep Edna's influence out of the upstairs of the main house, although there are enough seats in the sitting room so Edna can join Josh and Lara if she wants to.
Josh mainly left the furnishing and decorating to the ladies as he didn't want to get involved in any of their arguments but he did insist on having a desk in the bedroom looking out at the street. Josh is an aspiring writer and often gets inspiration from the people he sees walking past.
Most of the back garden is paved, there is plenty of room for Josh and Lara to entertain with both a seating area and a dining area.
Edna has a more traditional garden at the back of her house, Lara let her have this on the condition that it couldn't be seen from her nice modern garden, hence the high hedges, Edna quite likes them though, they give her privacy and a bit of peace and quiet.
I struggled with the budget a bit for this one but eventually ended up with the value dead on 70,000!
