Moonbase Beta

Round 3 - Entry 1


It's the year 2156. Moonbase Beta is one of the smaller settlements in this part of the Galaxy. The biological research station was once built to explore the planets natural resources and is manned for almost seven decades now.

Life on Bellatrix has never been easy. Sandstorms are frequently sweeping over the ground, destroying most plants and leaving behind nothing but chaos. The water is undrinkable and most native plants are toxic. The scientists who are based at Moonbase Beta, however, have found a way to deal with all this.

Moonbase Beta has giant wind deflectors at the outside and its roof is covered with solar panels. The house was built to allow its inhabitants a self-sustaining life. It's a hard life but all the hard work seems to pay off. One of the scientists has found a very special seed and planted it in the backyard of the house. A crystal tree has grown from the seed and just recently he started to change its colour and it seems that a sort of a fruit is growing in it. Will it be eatable? And if the answer was yes, how will it taste like?
