MoonLitTear you should do something about that. Your neighbourhood is probably corrupted though it might be bad CC.

Polgannon Project Seriously, I'm still working on it.

^ If I could agree a hundred times, I would: I had pets with human behaviour in some of my 'hoods before I learned how to use empty templates and incorrectly deleted the sims which got generated on making a new 'hood. I had no idea what was going on back then, but I now know that I was effectively using the deleteallcharacters cheat, leaving character data everywhere, and various sims and animals were picking up that data.

I've currently got a glitch where my Sims' apartment door will not close. It's driving me nuts, because it's winter outside and it looks ridiculous having your door wide open on the snow.

Is there a wall light over the door? That sometimes causes doors to get stuck.

All you can do is the best you can do.
(My most recent book is Sullivan, That Summer. In case you care.)

Ceiling lights are a problem, not wall lights.

If my Sim goes shopping for their family, it's a race to the clothes rack to avoid errors, and once errors start (every 3 seconds, where I have to click reset to keep the game going) simple shopping trips take almost 30 real life minutes. I loathe going there -_-'.

You've got some serious neighborhood corruption there, MoonLitTear. You need to do some reading. http://simswiki.info/wiki.php?title...Hood_Corruption

Some of those no-nos listed mean you may very well be looking at a total reinstall, if you want your game to function properly. Most of the VBTs (Very Bad Things) that people do with their games (like deleting sims) only affect the neighborhood in which they did them, or perhaps more than one neighborhood (as when moving an occupied lot from one neighborhood to another, thus corrupting both), and when that happens, resetting that/those 'hood/s is all that's necessary. Potentially very sad, but at least doesn't involve a reinstall.

There are other things, such as using cheats to make certain NPCs like Mrs. C or Grim (plus several others) playable. When that is done, it corrupts a file in your game called objects.package. When that file is corrupted, it affects ALL neighborhoods, current and any new ones you may create in the future. A total reinstall is necessary in those cases, unless you happen to have all your objects.package files (each EP and SP has one) backed up.

Also, make sure your game is fully and properly patched.

I do have CC, and I noticed if I don't turn it on during this "You might have conflicting CC and here's a list of it" popup I see now, my game is smoother and I don't have nearly as many problems or error logs. They still exist, but it's not as apparent; when I'm not in debug mode the game's almost ALMOST perfect.

I patch, and I take pains to never delete any Sim, but it's entirely possible I accidentally deleted someone. ._. Aside from that, my CC, and trying to manipulate the Alpha wolf's relationship with my Sim via boolProp, I haven't done the other error-triggers in the Simswiki link.

At this point would it just be easier to reinstall the game? Or, since I only play in Pleasantview; would it make sense to replace that neighborhood with a clean one and reintroduce my saved families, testing as I go?

Well, I'm sorry to tell you but what you described is almost certainly neighbourhood and/or game corruption.

That would probably be a good place to start.

Replacing the neighborhood or reinstalling the game?

Reinstalling the game is rarely a solution, but is often risky since the game may not uninstall or reinstall correctly. In this case, it won't help at all, unless you've managed to corrupt your objects.package.

You can easily reset a neighborhood using this wiki article:
http://simswiki.info/wiki.php?title...t_Neighborhoods

Even better, you can download cleaned and fixed versions of the shipped neighborhoods here:
http://meetme2theriver.livejournal.com/63030.html

Using a cleaned and fixed version of a neighborhood will avoid the corruption that is included in the shipped neighborhoods.

How did you save your families? If you packaged them with a lot, did you clean and test them properly?
http://simswiki.info/wiki.php?title...elp:Moving_Sims

Note that installing occupied lots ("The Hard Way") is inherently risky and may corrupt your new neighborhood, regardless of how much testing you do. We recommend "The Easy Way" in that FAQ.

Yeah, unless you have reason to think one or more of your objects.package files is corrupt, reinstalling won't solve anything. You can do a file search on your computer for objects.package and check the dates. If any are relatively recent (last couple years, perhaps), that would probably mean that the file was modified at some point. Only then would a reinstall be advisable.

Otherwise, it's far far better to do some troubleshooting and find the actual problem. If it's a CC issue, you can find and remove the offending file(s) without having to ditch your entire Downloads folder. Even if you end up having to reset a 'hood or 'hoods, that's much less hassle and potential trouble than reinstalling.

Do the FAQ: http://www.modthesims.info/wiki.php...lp:Game_Problem

There was a wall sculpture right where the door was stuck open. I moved it and the door closed!

Thank you!

Oh! Yeah, I get that too sometimes (or I used too), don't know why... Maybe its just a lighting effect, like those circles that appear if you have a blurred vision, don't know what its called.

Your sims clearly live on Tatooine.

Just discovered this glitch while on vacation with my sims. They were chatting and gossiping in the swimming pool, causing them to stand on top of the water.. weird!
