I am considering trying my hand at converting my Hobbit Hole window and door set found here: http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=84670 to TS3 objects. I have extracted the meshes and rescaled them to notice that in the TS3 a better cloning object would be that of a two tile door like the French doors. Even when looking at this in comparison it seems that the door and frame will cover nearly a half a tile extra on both left and right. I also notice in the TS3 model the right door facing out is a separate part (group). When we notice that in a group of its own the left door (facing out) and both left and right doors on the inside are in the same group this is tells me that possibly the inner part of the opposite side of the right door is unmapped or textured to create the illusion the object that IS there is not. This is hard to explain unless you have looked at these groups in Milkshape. This being said, any input on converting these packages (more so the door) would be helpful.

Reading is the key to all knowledge, math is the key to everything.

Doors in TS3 are oddly grouped, but it is nice not to have a separate N/S mesh now. Instead of having a mesh morph (like crib rails) that move it now seems to be controlled wholly by the joints and doesn't matter which group it is part of. So while the front will have the left/right doors in separate groups and the back in one, you will find the doors for each side as the same joint. This includes any glass also in that side. Each door piece (4 on a double) are mapped identical, and they take up the same space on the uvmap. So you create your door in pieces, front/back, and assign to the appropriate joint and then when all is assigned to the correct joints you can regroup them and order them the way they were originally.

You have to maintain the same number of groups, so if you put your entire door mesh on the left side with no mesh on the right, then you have an empty group. Not a major problem but you will need the group still, I usually have a hidden vertex/plane inside another mesh. You may need to adjust the routing and joints since you want the entire door as the entry area and to have the whole door open. They can be edited in the RSLT in S3PE or with Tutorials:TS3_ModdingTools#Small_Editors_by_Delphywiki. It might be easier to clone a two tile centered door, so then it has just one joint that opens and you would just need to move it a bit so it opens at the right place. I know there is at least one, just can't remember if it is base or WA.

Hey it's been a while since someone posted here and the thread died pretty quickly, but I was just wondering if someone ever did convert the door or windows. I absolutely love them and really wish I could use them in sims 3 and nothing comes close to your creations.
