I don't have any finished worlds to recommend but I say keep an eye out for some of the ones in the Creator Feedback section here, there's a good variety of worlds that all look very nice. One I like is this Barcelona world: http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=501395. Great setting and the creator has done some great things with building interior. (Especially the mall and aquarium.)
Anyway, does anyone know of some great urban worlds that are also quite gothic or dark? (Think Gotham City from Batman.)
Or a good list of empty worlds that have been terraformed with roads but no buildings? And maybe another that's good for practicing building on? (Flat lands, room for the largest lot sizes, etc.)
I am just after downloading a nice empty world with all lot sizes, yes huge ones too, over at MATY. You will find it under Build a world challenge, started by Kibble in the Pudding Plots.
I'm not sure if such a world exists, but I'm looking for something that has only roads and landscaping. I want to go into create-a-world and decorate it as I see fit. I want to make the houses and everything else. I love create-a-world, but I'm terrible at landscaping and making it look pretty. If anyone knows of such a world it would mean a lot. I have searched all over the net and have not came across anything. The worlds that I have now make my computer lag, and either they are too big, or people get stuck in random places. Any help would be appreciated.
As in my previous post, MATY, Pudding Plots, Build a worldchallenge, to keep down the lag i just bulldoze the lots that i don't need & keep population to a minimum with NRaas MC etc.
I just play tested Isola and its wonderful. It has no roads and is just an Island but for 1 to 2 families it works very well. It is like the map from Island Adventure and if you are playing any kind of ship wreck play you can use it without much editing but edits work fine. The beach property is now a weird fort of community buildings and one of the large lots became 6 small lots one subway and 5 houses. It saves, it runs you can vacation from it and with 5 houses for staffing the community lots work. I am short a science center and am off to learn how rabbit hole rugs work so I can straighten up the main dock/fort.
Some people have a Guardian Angel, you know a little guy sitting on your shoulder that tells you right from wrong, but mine is an Idiot.
Since there's a post about your favorite EA created worlds, I figured this one would be interesting too. Plus it'll help showcase new worlds for players to download. So tell us, what's your favorite custom world?
Mine has to be Los Aniegos over at the exchange. I haven't been able to stop playing it, even though it can get a tad laggy with all the damn trees.
I'm also a big fan of Redcliffs over at Awesims. I don't play it as much since I got Los Aniegos, but it's a perfect world to use if you're into a legacy play style.
i see there are two versions of Los Aniegos....Late Night and Show Time...which is the better one to try?
When I first opened it I was really shocked. The new town immediately reminded me of a sight that you can see all over European Mediterranean coast, from Greece to Spain - a nice old town surrounded and drowned by enormous modern tourist complexes. I hate that.
To see what I mean: this is what used to be one of the the best views in SV, from the spot you probably all know. I usually built a mansion for my filthy rich Sims here. Not any more. On seeing it my eco-friendly Sim fell on his knees and begged me to send him to Lunar Lakes.
On the other hand, it is a perfect tourist destination. When people who made it say there's everything here they mean it: there is, from every EP. Some lots are lifted from various EPs but others are new and, every time, much better than those made by Eaxis. Hotels are just excellent; Eaxis builders could learn a thing or two (or three or four or five ...) from them. Diving spots are new and very rich (though rather too rich for my taste; fish and treasure chests are almost falling over each other). And, of course, your Sim can do everything that's possible in the whole of the game, except explore tombs. You won't miss that at all.
Other observations: no cc but if you want to add, say, a casino you can - still enough empty lots left. Hardly any routing problems. (Though the town is empty at the beginning: this is the only problem with the tourist variation - no people around, except service.) In principle this is a beta but I wish Eaxis would release such well finished worlds as final products.
I downloaded this just to see it. What I found odd was that the apartment buildings have you paying rent instead of buying them. Is that new in some expansion and I have just never seen it before or is this something unique to this world?
Evansdale County. Currently playing this world and it's great. I am rather OCD about having all lots from all expansion packs available (even if I wont use, say, the Showtime lots) in the world, and EC has that. The CLs are also really neat.
