I have my Sim to be Knowledge aspired and have all the points filled out to get the Summon Alien perk. But I don't see the option on my telescope. So . . . are there conditions I have to meet such as:

Does it work on a community lot, or is this home lot only?
Can the Sim be abducted when they're inside a house? Or do they have to be outside, on the lawn? Or can I have a balcony - does that count as outside?
Is there a time frame? Like, do I only get the option from 2am to 6am, or whatever time?
Do I have to already get abducted once to even unlock this?

Just confused because I don't see the option on my expensive telescope at all.

There is no option on un-hacked objects to summon the aliens. It is a random chance thing, which is modified by various factors in game. If you truly want the abduction, 100% gauranteed, then get the hacked telescope from here:

Happy simming.

Not true, Kneon Knight. If you have FreeTime Knowledge sims can get the Summon Aliens perk, and that allows them to, well, summon aliens :-D

As far as I know, shortegio, there aren't many conditions. I have only ever used it on the sim's home lot, with the telescope either on the lawn or on the roof. I'm not sure if it would work inside or on community lots. You should get the option all day, ie at any time, and the sim does not need to be abducted first to get the option.

Summon aliens doesn't always work, as in when a sim uses it they don't get abducted all the time, but in my experience they get abducted at least once every 3 or 4 times that they try. The option should always show up, though!

I'd say it's a glitch, or some kind of hack conflict or something.

In my game they always get abducted, even though it sometimes takes 4-5 sim hours (so their needs have to be in the green when I start). I had one of my sim trying to soummon aliens during the day - and he succeed. I have always done it outside on their home lot however, so I don´t know if it works inside or on community lots.

Ah, maybe that's why I sometimes find that they don't get abducted. I don't always let them keep going indefinitely until they get abducted, because they often have other stuff that they need to do too.....

I'm going to assume they have to be on their home lot and not a community lot since they would get taken away for a few sim hours. Yes the telescope can be on a balcony but I don't think there's any other restrictions other than that.

Well, that's odd...you've apparently pointed out a problem on my end... I have Freetime installed, but I'm not seeing the option. Is there some toggle switch I haven't set?

It only works for Knowledge sim, and you have to use the points that they get to spend on "Lifetime Aspiration Benefits" in order to make it available to them. So if you've never given a Knowledge sim all the lifetime aspiration benefits that are available to him/her then you will never have seen it!

I don't mean the reward points, by the way, the ones that you use to get Smartmilk and the Energizer, I mean the ones that you can also use to choose them a secondary aspiration; the ones that came with Freetime (I think!).

Oh, I see what happened...we're talking about two different things...I as referring to the telescope itself, not the sim ability. I was worried for a second, thought I had busticated my game or sumthin'.

OK, I got it show up. I think it was because I lived on an apartment building and was forced to put it inside (outside doesn't have enough room and of course no backyard). I moved to a House plot, and I changed my Aspiration to something else and then back to Knowledge just in case to reset it, and it showed up. It was weird, though, because I got abducted when I was on the apartment building while I was searching for planets (without the summon aliens option), and I was inside. So maybe it was a weird Knowledge perk glitch or something.

Summon Aliens checks if the telescope is inside. The other interactions (Stargaze, search For Planets, etc.) work if the telescope is inside but facing a window. It's not a glitch, just different programming.

Summon Aliens shows up only on livable lots - residential, apartment, frats, dorms, university housing. However YAs can't get abducted, so you can summon to your heart's content, but the aliens won't come to universities. They probably fear some crazy grad student will try an autopsy.

Summon Aliens works on the cheap telescope too, and works regardless of the time of day. It should take an average of 3.6 hours according to probability, but my sims always end up taking 6+ hours.

On my site I have dozens more Sims 2 mods. These mods come with no support so use them at your own risk.

Cyjon: I had a YA who got abducted, in fact it has happend several times in my game. One time one of my sims even went on academic probation due to the it, since I was stupid enough to let her summon Aliens when her final exam was going to start in a few hours. Unfortunately I have no photos to prove it, but I hope you trust me;-)

I think YAs can get abducted. They just don't come back alien pregnant since in a vanilla game you can't have babies through college.

Sorry, you are right. I got abduction confused with pregnancy.

YAs can definitely get abducted. I had Castor Nova get the "summon aliens" Knowledge apsiration perk and then summon aliens....and he was abducted succesfully. I was actually kind of relieved when didn't come back pregnant, since babies aren't allowed at college and even when you cheat to get them, they won't move back home with their parents when the parents graduate. I don't really think a college Fraternity is the best place for a baby to be raised!

And of course if your teen Sim gets abducted, that's another scholarship right there....

I've never summoned aliens before, so is it a 100% chance your Sim will get pregnant when abducted? (minus the YA's from what I've heard) Sorry for the noobish question, haha.

True. From all my Sims all these years only a single teens has been abducted. I mean, normal abduction, no mods or aspiration reward boost. I was really suprised and excited!

If the Sim is male and an adult with more than three days left to elder, then as I understand it, yes, the chance is 100%. Of course, hacks are available to make it so that females can be alien-impregnated, too, and if you have one, the chance is 100% for them, too. Works for supernaturals, too, except zombies.

Redmond Flats, my eleventy-th stab at a "Build A City" challenge. Unfortunately, I didn't keep up with documenting it. But you can find rules and tracking spreadsheets and stuff there.
For stuff what I've made, there's my LJ. There be downloads there, some of which aren't/won't be here on MTS.
