I've been making a standalone accessory of the K&B bandanna and run into a problem. I've separated it from the hair and adjusted it to fit children. Then I cloned an accessory mesh (the glasses with the thick rims), made it a new mesh, replaced the mesh, linked it all together to a recolour and it all works perfectly. Except the bandanna is supposed to look like fabric and instead, it's shiny. I assume it's because it was cloned from glasses and it's using some setting that makes it look plastic-y or... something. I had a read through the TXMT tutorials, but I'm not sure what to alter - I thought maybe changing LightingEnabled would do the trick, but it just made it dark in CAS. And further changes made it bright pink, which wasn't what I was aiming for at all. I was at least sensible enough to make a copy before playing with it, but I'm very stuck and would appreciate a helping hand. Thanks! |

I had this problem with one of the hats I was working on. It was classified as hair rather than as an accessory, but the problem might be the same (it was a straw hat and it looked like it was made of shiny plastic). In the TMXT, make sure the Material Definition is set to "SimStandardMaterial". I think that was what fixed it. I don't think it had anything to do with the lighting or anything like that; it was a simple fix. Hope that works for you! |

Ah, that seems to have done the trick. Thank you very much! |

OK, I have a new problem with this accessory. I got it all finished and put it up for download on my livejournal, and someone's reported back that it's showing as a solid white mass in their game. I cleaned out my downloads and savedsims folder in case I'd done something silly like upload the wrong recolour (it wouldn't be the first time) and it's showing fine for me. Does anyone have any idea what might be the problem? I've included a link in case anyone wants to have a look at it. Although it's included on a full sim, there's a zip file there with separate package files so you can ignore everything else. |
