Let me explain, my husband and I have found that when we see a movie that is really awesome-awesome. No one likes it. I have often wondered if we are freaks, so I'm really curious to see if anyone else has had this experience. List your top five movies that everyone you know hates. If you want to you can say why you like them. 1 Hero. - Everything about this movie just completely blows me away. My friends always say " what's with the colours?" 2 Equilibrium. - I love the dichotomy between a supposedly emotionless world and the absolute intensity of emotion that is displayed in this movie. It is done in such a restrained manner that it literally punches you in the gut. 3 Gamer.- The photography in this movie is superb. Also I love the social commentary. Will Wrights new baby reminds me of the Society game. 4 Love Actually.- Every one I know thinks this is just a romantic comedy. 5 A view from the Top- This is so over the top that I cannot help but love it. It is my ultimate feelgood movie. |

1) Cube (1997 Vincenzo Natali)- I love this film but everyone I know who has seen it thinks it's boring or 'not enough action'. 2) Soylent Green- Perhaps I'm mixing with the wrong people! 3) National Lampoons' Vacation movies- They crack me up but no-one else finds them funny! 4) The Blair Witch Project- I saw this at the cinema when it was released and thought it was unusual and clever, but judging by the comments ('why was Mike facing the wall?') no-one else even understood it, and many people complained of feeling sick! 5) Any Monty Python film- But everyone else thinks the humour is childish. Except my kid, who drew a speech bubble saying 'Don't worry too much about the myrrh next time' on a nativity picture she drew at school once. |

Really? Soylent Green is a great cult classic and the Monty Python stuff is surprisingly witty if you're paying attention. As for movies I think are underappreciated, I can only think of one at the moment. Star Trek III. I've heard it criticized as being kind of fanfiction-y, but I think this movie does a better job at bringing out the friendship between Kirk, Spock, and McCoy than any other. But I read fanfiction, so what do I know? |

i only got four: Flypaper Hot Fuzz - too jumbled and makes no sense, one of them commented Saving Private Ryan - i think they only liked the first 20-30 minutes of this movie, you know, the bloodbath Scott Pilgrim vs. the World - i guess they don't like a game-like world by them, i mean my circle of friends |

I can only think of two - 1) Strangers with Candy 2) Kids' in the Hall: Brain Candy (also great movies with the word 'candy' in the title) |

wow! I have never heard of Cube, Soylent Green, Fly Paper or Hot Fuzz! I will have to check those out, if I can get hold of it. *Google is your friend- I think I will love Soylent Green, Flypaper and Cube* turns out I have seen Hot Fuzz and forgot If we are mentioning cult classics I would have to add Brazil. It is one of my favorite movies of all time and when Inception came out I hated it because I felt it was somehow a Brazil knock-off. I showed Brazil to some of our friends (the Inception fans) and I have never seen anybody hate a movie so much that it actually offends them. One guy used to phone me and rant and rave because how could I make him watch such a bad movie!. I was so surprised. |

I don't really want to revive a dead thread but I just watched Fly Paper and I loved it. I especially loved the craziness of it, Patrick Dempsey's character was great and I loved the two amateur robbers. I did suspect the chick though, but I have a problem with suspension of disbelief, so don't pay attention to me. It was a really cool movie so thank you @tofanpw! |

Yes, but the question was 'List your top five movies that everyone you know hates'. Everyone I know hates those movies, hence me writing 'Perhaps I'm mixing with the wrong people'! | |
