any ideas, i heard it may be to do with pets but i now have that and indeed every other add on. i have been trying to mod for over 6 months now and would apreciate the help. if i could somehow send you the bench table im working on so you may figure out the problem or perhaps if i explain what i am trying to make, you make it and send it to me so i can work out what i am doing wrong. im using tsrw, as unitool doesnt work :/ i am basing my object on the outdoor picnic bench found in misc surfaces ![]() yeah it looks like that its basically half a bench. can someone try and make that and post it back to me. when it goes into the game its invisible! this like many of my recent mods is invisible! what's going on here? thanks! |

Did you want it looking like that screenshot, or are you saying it already looks wrong in Workshop? |

the wrong texture is intentional as i only want to test that the mesh is working correctly. i supose i should uv map it before testing, but im sure the problem will happen again. the hole object just turns invisible. besides i have already had objects that look like this (in the testing stage not correct uv) and they do not disappear. take a look at the original picnic beach mesh its a bit of a strange one. thanks Edit: yes this is what i have made, as shown in the screan shot. would you like me to upload the .pack so you can take a proper look. its probably done totally wrong. i just dont understand the complex and confusing requirements of tsrw, im a good mesher but i can never get them to actually work in game, perhaps i need to team up with somebody who can make my meshes work in game. |

Ok I think you misunderstood my question, I was only looking at the shape not the color. What I wanted to know is, that picture you showed, does that show it looking the same shape as you want it to look in the game? |

At what point do you realise it is invisible? Does its thumbnail look right in the catalog? Does it look right when you first put it down on the ground, but then disappears when you start up playing again? Or it even has a blank thumbnail? |

ok so the launcher shows the correct thumbnail, but as soon as i get in game, the thumbnail is invisible and so is the object all my mods do this now, however other peoples mods do not go invisible. |

Does this apply to things you made before, that used to look ok in the game? |

um dont know because i got frustrated and delated everything. is it because alot of my meshes delate something and join it up with a new shape, for example the picnic table deletes the top of the table, and alot of the original mesh and replaces it with a new box for the table top and 4 cylinders. i only seem to have problems when i mesh from scratch. if its quick meshed it works. but quick meshing is so restrictive. |

I think you may have not assigned the vertices to the joints. That can make an object invisible in game, although I am not enough of a meshing expert to know if it might also make the thumbnail blank. If your objects were ok at one time, it might be because at that time the tutorial you did was fresher in your mind. Do you feel like having another go with a tutorial? |

i have asigned my verts easy no problem, :D now then i tested it and still it goes invisible, can somebody look at the original picnic beach in tsrw and explain to me why the alpha is set like that, it would apear to me that this is the cause of my problems |

The Textures are in the wrong format although that wont make them invisivble. The bench has 3 or 4 Geostates and you didn't select any meshparts for them. you find tutorials for both on TSR |

right im starting to understand. it allows you to hide parts of the mesh that do not need to be seen when far away? it defiantly hides parts of the mesh. |

Geostates are usually used to show different 'states' of an object. In the case of the picnic table, they are used for showing/hiding the table cloth. |

i have now got to the point where the textures are correct but there are two problems remaining. one the geostate with the tablecloth shows on group_1 of the model (always) is there a way to remove this geostate altogether? i was thinking of making the whole model one group so legs seat and tabletop are group_0, with a tiny little box called group_1 hidden within it the seat or under the table top, therefore the tablecloth geostate texture would go onto my tiny little box and could be concealed. the other issue is the issue of slots, i cannot remove the seating slots on the side of the bench that no longer has a seat in the model in tsrw, im not entirely sure why, however i can remove the routing on that side. i know routing data controls the sims stopping them walking into it right? or is that the bounding box? with these two problems fixed i will have finally created an object, but more than this i will have understood what to do again in the future! woohoo! no pun intended. Edit: If i had studied the model in the first place i would know by now that group_1 is exclusivly for the table cloth, whilst it seems i canot remove group_1 i can indeed hide it. in theory that should fix the texture problem, is this exceptable to conceal a group within a model or is that the newbie way of doing it. im still working on the slot issue. |
