Is it possible to have more than one playable sim at a time in a dorm? I know from a previous thread that replacing all the dormies with playables requires using Pescado's nodormieregen hack without having created any universities yet. However... 1)my two custom hoods have unis attached with nothing but the terrain (I haven't started building yet), 2)I attached then deleted La Fiesta Tech to Strangetown because I changed my mind and want to build a custom uni there, and 3)I started playing Academie Le Tour attached to Veronaville. So, is there any way to have, say, 2 or 3 playables in a dorm given the circumstances? I'm guessing no, but I figured I'd check. Sorry if that was a bit long-winded. |

Do you mean no other dormies? Because I play with multiple playables in a dorm all the time but the rest are dormies. |

You seem to be a little confused about how this works. A dorm is a special kind of household. You can have up to eight people in a dorm if it has at least eight rooms in it, just like any other household. Each person in the dorm claims a room, which has a special door permitting this; once a room is claimed, that slot is filled and the user has the capacity to lock everyone else out if he desires. And people do wander into each other's dorm rooms to sleep, do assignments, borrow the computer, etc. Any dorms not claimed by playables will be claimed by dormies, which are YA townies encountered only on University lots. The dormies will generate whether you use a dorm or not, as they are needed to populate the community lots and do walk-bys. But if you use a dorm, the dormies who occupy the rooms not used by playables will be constantly in and out of the dorm, and in and out of their rooms, and will be available to interact with the playables who also live there. If you move in a new playable, one of the dormies will vacate a room so he can play it, and if you move one of the playables out without replacing him immediately, his room will be claimed by a new dormie. I've never had only one person in a dorm since my experimental days, as I prefer big households and not too many of them. The first thing I did when I started my current hood was send six teens to live in a dorm together, and it worked beautifully. Now, if you want more than one student in a dorm room, you'll have to give the dorm two doors, so they can both claim it. But that's different. P.S. You want long-winded? Go read some of my posts. You will never feel long-winded again. |

That's it - that's exactly what I needed to know to understand how this all works. I want to put a few playables in and then let dormies take the rest of the rooms. I wasn't sure if it was possible, but now that I know it is, I'd better get crackin' building some dorms. Thank you so much!

I will add that the nodormieregen hack you referred to does not keep dormies from moving into the dorm. When you first attach a Uni hood and launch it the game generates the dormies (roughly 50 Sims) and all the NPC's for Uni. What the hack does is stop the game from generating the dormies. You then have the option of creating your own or batch creating them. If you already have a Uni hood that you've been playing then what adding that hack will do is keep your game from generating new dormies. Say one of yours becomes a playable the game would normally generate a replacement Sim. Not everyone wants that and there are plenty of players that want to create their own Sims for custom hoods. Plus every time you attach a hood without that hack the game creates an additional set of dormies even if you then delete the hood. As for the dorm rooms Peni explained it very well, as usual. I will add that I frequently use small dorms with only playables and no dormies at all so it's certainly possible. |

Speaking of dorms, I sometimes get a bug where dormies refuse to move out, even if there's playables enough in the dorm to fill all the rooms -__- Is this a known issue, and if so - is it fixable? Oh, and a small tip! I find 6 people to a good number of playables. Also, don't move them in all at the same time. 'cos then they'll most likely graduate at the same time. I move in a new sim at every semester start, that way I get a good flow in the household, and doesn't suddenly have to find home for 6 new people back in my mainhood ![]() Happy Friday, everyone! |

Where do I get this hack at? I googled it but brought me to a thread asking questions about it instead of where you download it |

I have a couple of Sims in a small dorm right now. Because it has four bedrooms, it also has two game generated dormies. The weird part is that only one of them is available to interact with my playable Sims. The other one is always hiding in her room! Has anyone else had this happen in their game? This is the first time I have noticed it in my game. |

Whether or not they interact with your Sims a lot is just like any other NPC Sim, it is based on their interests and personality points. Shy or grouchy Sims don't tend to be as social as friendly or outgoing Sims, they also will not talk if they don't have many interests in common. That specific dormie may just be shy or grouchy or she may not have anything in common with your Sim |

Just to clarify here - Dormies get generated at the point where you add the uni sub-hood to your neighbourhood. There are 50 of them, always made to the same template. If you add a second university, you will get another 50 students also made to the same template which is why you sometimes see two or more students who look exactly alike. You can prevent dormies being spawned by using empty templates (the university sub-hood template needs to be replaced). Using nodormieregen will then prevent any additional dormies being spawned. If you do the latter, you will not get walkbys and students on community lots (except your own) and additional unoccupied dorm rooms in the dorms will remain empty. You can, of course, make your own students if you want to (as I did). | |

I don't think you can have two playable sims in one dorm... but you can have to playable sims in two different dorms. |

Niiick, you'll understand differently if you actually read the thread. Dorms can have up to eight playables, just like regular residential households. |

In the neighborhood view, there's an icon that looks like the college icon with the arrows over it that you can use to make up a college household of teens from the neighborhood. All the teens chosen will be able to move into the dorm as a group. It's a way to let a teen's townie friends go to college with him or her. The issue with doing it this way is that not all the kids will get the cut scene of their parents dropping him or her off. |

I think it's the "oldest" teen in the group (the first one born/made in the neighborhood out of the new household) that gets the little cinematic. You can definitely have more than one playable in a dorm. I do it all the time. |
