I want showtime but i don't know if origin is safe.
I'm not able to buy it from a store or to let i bring to my house right now.
So please let me know if downloading from origin is okay.

It's fine. I've purchased and installed all expansion and stuff packs on there with the exception of the base game (which I got at retail) without issue.

Okay thank you gonna do that than. Just one more question if i would ever have a problem with the game can i reinstall it?

Now i'm so confused if i want to buy the katy perry version trough origin i have to give an adress but i can't because i don't live in the US or Canada so how can i download it then through origin without having to have it be delivered?

Whether Origin is "safe" depends on your point of view. Some people don't like any program which will stay resident by default, connect to the net without you telling it to, and show you ads at every opportunity, but Origin does do that. (You can stop it from loading itself at startup, though.) It also doesn't work very well, heh, and seems to need an update every time a new game is released on it. But yeah, it is not going to crash your computer or give you a virus. It is similar to Steam, Gamefly, Games for Windows Live, and other online game stores/services, aside from being a little flakier than most Like them, it wants to be a social networking and chat platform as well as a software provider.

And yes, you can redownload your game if you need to.

As for buying the Sims on Origin from overseas, you may not be able to. All online services have some limits in terms of what countries they support... there are a lot of issues, involving currencies, tax, and import/export restrictions. Where do you live?

Edit: Googling on Origin, it seems that if you are a US citizen wanting to use US currency for the US version of the game but living abroad, you may be out of luck... people in that situation report lots of problems. For instance: http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/posts/list/7599799.page

i downloaded showtime basic version thru origin , all but 2 of my games are thru origin and its safe far as i know...my problem is the simport appearently the servers are consistently down as log ins fail constantly while sending a sim on tour to another players game....havent tried to go anywhere else or to start in another town using starlight shores mainly because it came with showtime and im my opinion if newstuff works best it works best in the town it came from like apartments in bridgeport and all that.i still as of today havent been able to host or tour to other peoples game if theres a fix or mod out there no one seems to know it even twallan doesnt know what the issue is...ea doesnt answer...anyone have a workaround, fix, cheat or mod to help me?

(I realize this is an older thread but I thought I would add to it) I use Origin for all of Sims 2 & 3. It's basically just EA's version of 'Steam.' The biggest problem with it is it likes to try to run in the background when I have the sims running and that can cause performance issues. Also, it's an extra step opening Origin, then the Launcher, then launching the game but it's only a few seconds so it's not the biggest issue.

Sorry for the only partial quote which takes it a bit out of context, but I have yet to see a single ad on Origin, unless I go to the store page, but going to a store always results in ads. Not sure if I changed anything a while back to prevent it, but I can't remember any time I saw one, unlike Steam which I am certain I needed to manually stop it from spamming me ads.

On topic: No internet service is 100% safe, but as online services go I trust Origin more than most and trust it enough to use it myself...and I am not a person who trusts online services lightly.
