Hi all! Basically I'm just wondering, I created an AnyGame with all the expansion and Stuff packs I have (University, Nightlife, Open for Business, Pets, Seasons, Bon Voyage, FreeTime, Apartment Life, Kitchen & Bath Interior Design Stuff, IKEA Home Stuff and H&M Fashion Stuff), so I can build a house which I'm planning on uploading it on MTS. Now, I didn't really understand the guidelines.

So, in my AnyGame Downloads folder, I only have the CC I'm planning to include in my house (windows, custom wall and a few objects). No hacks, custom hairs or anything else not related to building that house. I've even excluded every single cheat from userStartup.cheat file.

Now, I had a problem using Clean Installer in the past, so I'm wondering is it possible to avoid using it, because I use only the most required CC?

Thanks!

~DJ.

PS I know this isn't the right thread for this kind of question, but I can't seem to post on Creators Forum. Sorry Staff.

Well, that depends. The game tends to package unused recolours with the lot; so, if your AnyGame only including CC you used in the lot also includes recolours - so you have no other recolours at all that weren't used n the lot - then that, along with everything else, means that you don't need to use CI.

What was the prblem you had using CI in the past?

If you have an AnyGame already set up, then you can use the Clean Installer with your AnyGame by following one of the techniques in this thread:
http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=455178

Personally, I usually use technique #3: double-click on my Sims2_AnyGame1.reg, then run the Clean Installer, then run the game (which automatically runs the Sims2_Full.reg to reset the registry back to the full game). It's very simple and works perfectly.

However, if I'm working exclusively with one AnyGame for several days in a row, then I use technique #4. This is more work initially, but then I don't have to remember to run the reg file every time that I run the Clean Installer.

First off, whiterider.

Darn! I've downloaded some windows with tons of recolors. So that means that I should run CI, right?

The problem I had with CI is; I think it pretty much made a glitch or something in my registry, and I had to re-install Windows and stuff. Now I am usually not like this, sceptical about viruses or damaging my computer and stuff, but IDK. Even the fact that it happened on my previous computer. I started this topic to make sure I don't have to use it. But it seems that I have to. (I know my old computer was glitchy itself, but I dunno. Again. Maybe it was a glitchy version of CI, or just because of the computer. OK then, I'll try. Thanks!)

Now, Mootilda.

I'm afraid I didn't understand a thing, sorry. Do I have to use your tehniques...? Let me tell you my part of story. So.

Yes, I have an AnyGame installed right now. Only one, configuration is listed in my previous post. I don't have CI installed at the moment. I've been running this AnyGame for a week now (installed it in Sunday, ran in Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. But I don't believe that has anything to do with this ).

What I meant to do, is that in the game (AnyGame) I click on a lot in Neighborhood view, and then click that * icon (with an arrow... to pack a lot), and select "Package lot to a file". Then, when it's out in PackedLots or SavedLots or how is that folder called (in "Documents\AnyGameStarter\AnyGame1\EA Games\The Sims 2"), I have to run CI because I have tons of recolors of one item, and I only use one recolor. When I do that, I'd save the file under another name (woo-hoo, I've read CI instructions!), and zip it and upload it on MTS.

Now is there a problem with that? I mean, does AnyGame have problems with packaging lots, or CI with reading AnyGame's lots, or something third?

Thanks for the response!

Your technique should work perfectly for packaging a lot and removing excess CC.
