Since creating my account on MTS I have been able to download as much custom content to my the Sims 2 game as I wished, but recently I have been experiencing difficulties that I cannot seem to solve by myself. I have every possible downloading programs for .RAR folders, but they are no longer working.

Here is what happens: When I click on a file I want to save, Windows Media Player opens up and tries to 'play' the file I previously tried to save. Then another box pops up and says: Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file.

This has never happened before and I don't understand why it's happening now. I can save other types of files from MTS, like .ZIP, but not .RAR. I am not very skilled with computer terminology, but after reading some MTS easy guides on how to download files and upload them onto my Sims game I thought I had it figured out, though it seems now I haven't.

My laptop is run by Windows 7 and I use Internet Explorer as my search engine. I've read about every guide I can think of until now but nothing seems to be of help to the problem I face. Does anyone know what I should do to solve this?

You must have your computer set to open all files with the Media Player. In Windows Explorer, right click on a file with each type that you want to download and then set that file type to open with an appropriate program, like WinRAR for your rar and zip file or the Clean Installer for Sims2Packs.

I'm not actually sure how I did it, but with your advice I actually got it to work again. Thanks a lot
