Hi all

I wanted to make some bedding which could in essence be used anywhere in the game but mostly they had to fit into my hogwarts castle. All the bedding out there related to hogwarts have these big ol' crests slapped right in the middle, and I prefer it a somewhat more subtle approach.

(Also I figure, if you went way down to the dungeons, through the secret entrance-wall and past a green themed common room, you probably already know what house you're in without the crest being on your sheets)

I made a recolour which I use in my own game but it got rejected for on MTS. So I worked on the points which were:
- Texture Detail
- Shadow

I had first made a textured version but those textures seemed to big and deep to fit into the game so I went with blank ones.
My shadows and such tend to be off because I have a form of colourblindness that causes me not being able to see hues/shades in the same colour range. So I just kept adding shadow untill I saw it, not realising it would look like the deep shadows of doom to other people.

Old version

I have now added way lighter shadows, in fact I can barely see them myself. I used the ones from HystericalParoxysm and kept all the values the same.
For the texture I went with a sort of rough jute like fabric look. But I'm not sure if the texture should be more or less visible, because whenever I try to make them more visible I get the feeling it just looks very out of place in the game. Added a closeup of the bedding for clearer view of the texture.

New version

I'd love any and all feedback you could give me, this is my first recolour for the Sims and I hope to share it with others

Well, this is a nice idea you try to realize. I would agree that there are not enough texture details an the blankets. I can΄t tell you how detailed your creations need to be to get accepted here. I really like the textures you can use in TS3, maybe you can get inspired by the game?

Updated my beddings with more visible textures. Stuck with the jute/burlap texture because I really like it.

Would love to hear any feedback

The textures are visible now (I'm assuming this is still in Sims 2?)

It is indeed Sims 2. I guess I just thought making the textures this visible would be too much

It is quite better now, you have some more 3D effect on it.
I was wondering why the white one has a lighter color on the pillow than the black one. Was it on purpose?

Yes that was on purpose. I coloured the dark ones after the Hogwarts robes, so mainly black with a bit of the house colour and the light ones just are a brighter, lighter version for general use or if you're not really keen on the whole dark black castle type of environment
