Sim PE Not bringing up package file for export (SOLVED) #1 |

First let me just say that I have recolored clothing, walls, floors, and messed around with some object meshing so I am not new to custom content. I have not however done any object recoloring before. I was asked to do a custom lot for a friend and the project required that I recolor one of the shelves that came with the Open For Business pack to make it a little less cheesy. I started to follow the Recolouring Objects with Object Workshop (NEW tutorial) and had no trouble what so ever until it came to the point where I export the texture to edit. Once I have saved the package it is supposed to come back up so I can edit it and export it in Sim PE but for what ever reason it is not doing that. It just says object was created and when I go to plugin view there is absolutely nothing, no resource tree, zip. Normally I would post this in the tutorial's forum but since it is from 2004 I decided I might get a better response here. So my fellow simmers any ideas what is going on with Sim PE? Or am I not doing something I should. Is there a more recent object recolor tutorial that I should use instead? Any advice or suggestions would be very much appreciated. |

Can't you just open the new package? |

If the newly created recolor package is empty, it may be slaved to another shelf. Check the CEP documentation to see what is recolorable, and if it is slaved to something to make sure your recoloring the correct shelf. |

Okay I checked and you are right it is a slave to another shelf. So, does that mean if I recolor the other shelf then the shelf that I want recolored will be recolored? Okay I tried to recolor the parent object and got the same result as before, nothing shows up when I go to the plugin view after the package has been saved. Alternatively I tried to use Wizards of SimPE instead of the regular SimPE program and received a message stating that "The selected object can't be recolor (yet)" in fact it seems I get that message no matter what object I try to recolor. |

Please do not multi post, use the edit button. Yes, if you recolor the parent object then the slave object will be recolored as well. Is the shelf recolorable without CEP? And if no, is the CEP installed correctly? Have you tried reinstalling it? I have no idea about the wizards, never used it. |

I have no idea if it is recolorable without CEP. I uninstalled CEP tried to recolor the parent object with the same result, then reinstalled CEP and tried again and there was no change. The object is on the CEP object list so I'm assuming CEP allows it to be recolored since there is not a big "not recolorable" next to it. EDIT: I was able to solve this with help from Michelle 111's help. For anyone that has this problem in the future, SimPE dis not have the file location for OFB. You have to click Extra / Preferences / System Folders and make sure that each expansion pack you have, has a file path for SimPE to find it. This will also solve the problem of not being able to clone OFB objects as well.
