I was wondering who else does this; When my Sims reach a certain "age" or when they reach certain points in a career, or even change careers, I'll usually give them a makeover. When Sims have kids that are teens or go to college I give them a little "middle aged" makeover, I add wrinkles, might change their hairstyle. Men might get a receding hairline, women get "mommy hair" Often when Sims get to become Elders I'll add glasses. The makeovers most of the time will include clothing (a middle aged woman with a teen kid running around in a skimpy mini skirt? :D) So who else does this? or when do you give Sims a makeover? |

I do it to some degree. I make them look more mature as they move through life, but I never add wrinkles. And I rarely use gray hair for sim women. At least not until they're about to die. |

I'm boring so I rarely change my sims hair or clothing. To me, they "become" their hair and clothing and when I change it they'e not the same sim. I do change makeup and piercings and such from time to time, though. |

I do change hair and makeup relatively often, mostly on female Sims though! LOL Men stay pretty well the same forever! |

I do that for most of my Sims. I "mature" them up a bit but not so much where it takes away their character. But I only do this for Sims that have kids. |

Yes, I do that - I try to match the hairstyle and clothing to their current status in life. I'm a bit more OC in that I also match it to the current season too :-) |

Not really, I'll change their makeup sometimes when they age and I usually change the womans clothes after she has a baby (mainly because I change it to a pregnancy morph outfit, then I change it to a more mature outfit after the baby comes). Sometimes I go through the hair because I intend on changing it, but the sim just doesn't feel right with the new hair so I change it back. |

As soon as my sims transition I direct them to the mirror! XD I try and keep them looking the same, with similar hairstyles which reflect a real age progression, but yeah, sometimes a hairstyle on a toddler just doesn't work on a child. At adult I keep them as the same style - although it depends on their "characters". If I see them being more mumsy I'll make them over when their kids become teens. |

I'll change their clothes seasonally, if I'm bored of looking at what they have on. I'll change hair/makeup on either gender, as applicable (not into makeup on men. The only thing I consistently do is change their appearance when they advance to the next life stage because the random outfits generated for them are often...er...well...special? In most cases, I don't change their look again until their next age transition. Unless bored.

Depends on the sim: with some of them, I change them to look more "middle-aged", specially if they look younger than their children, and others just look so good with one particular hair/outfit, there's no need to give them a makeover. |

I don't really have elders in my game, I have adult clothings enabled for elders, and with died hair, that's actually when my adults become middle aged. I changed their looks when they transit to another age, because random maxis stuff == fail. During their adulthood, I might change their outfit, but that's not very usual. I do how ever devide their adulthood life into three parts. The first ten days is being a kid, having fun, partying, the second ten days when they are in their thirties, they start to machure, get engaged, married, and the last ten is for the kids. This is a basic timeline, but it might change according to sim. |

I do give them a new set of clothes after every age transition, due to the game tendency to give them a really stupid outfit on age transition. (I buy decent clothes from the appropriate age ahead of time, so it's just a matter of planning a new outfit.) And since the icon only changes if you change appearance in the mirror I take the opportunity to see if anything else needs to be done. |

i change my sims clothes daily or every two days and their hair when i feel like it, but big makeovers usually only take place when they have kids that hit their teens, altough i don't always make them lose their wild hairs when they have teen children, lol. basicly, it all just depends on the sim. |

Pretty much as soon as my Sims age transition, I give them clothes and hair that I feel suits their personality and how I see them. For example, a Sim that I consider to be a really serious intellectual is not likely to get the same hairstyle or clothes as a Sim that I see as being a wild party animal. |

I usually turn aging off. I don't know why, but I have extreeeme problems with letting a family age. I'll say to myself "THIS time I'm going to let this family age/reproduce/die/etc." But then they get to a certain place that I really like, and I turn aging off to stop them there. I think it's because I put a lot of thought into my sims when I make them. So, this time, I made a family by clicking the Random button. I left their hair color/eye color/skintone/face/personality, and just set up their hairstyle, makeup and clothes in the way that best befits their natural features, and then set up their aspirations/turn-ons in the way that best befits their personality. So far, I haven't turned their aging off yet. So we'll see how that goes. I'll probably "age up" the father, but not the mother. The mother seems like one of those tacky types that'll have the artificial tan/dyed hair/Tinkerbelle shirt/Abercrombie jeans type thing going on well into her elder stage. |

I always choose clothes which fit the Sims' personality and aspiration, and sometimes choose based on age. More often than not, they wear clothes which are appropriate to the season their lot is on. Less often, I will alter a Sim's appearance based on the level he/she is in his/her chosen career; for example, I recently gave a Sim a cleaner, more serious look when he was promoted to an International Corporate Lawyer. |

I try to give them a bit of a makeover as they get older, but my extreme lack of male cc means the men usually look the same. |

i don't really make over my sims, the only real make overs i do is when i decide my born in game sim teen is going to be goth/skater/emo so i have to change them when there children or as soon as there teen, and then i've got to change them to normal again when they reach adult (some of them stay goth till they die, but rarely) |

I always intend to give my sims some sort of make-over once they start getting older, but I almost never do. I'm lazy and I get attached to their hair and clothes. Ideally I'd change their clothes a couple times in their adult lives and give them "older" hair styles and some wrinkles before they age. I do give them a more mature look once they reach elder though. |

In my Medieval 'hood, the women pin their hair up in some sort of bun when they're ten Simdays away from elderhood. They also get wrinkles, and the men too. Also, when their husband dies and they become a widow, they get to wear a special hat. :P But in my other 'hood it really depends on the Sim. Most have a distinctive style, though, and it may change over time when I feel like it. Some wear lipstick, but most are natural, some wear a beard, others might shudder at the thought, some have really short curls, others have really long braids, some really like bright colours, others are more into pastels.. I like to think they're all unique! But they are all like me, in a way. I have a elder woman who's worked on a farm since she married into the family, but she's returned to her job in the city now. She's kinda preppy and like many older women, she wears her hair short. Then I have another woman who recently turned to elder. She is the founder of a poverty challenge and has been struggling for money her entire existence. Her children are just kids and teens. She has wonderfully long flowing red hair, and when she transitioned she kept the same hair. I really like how she looks with it and her face isn't showing any signs of ageing yet, so she gets to keep it. But I should give her a couple wrinkles to complement her age. |

I do this. How often I do it depends on the Sim and their job. One of my first Sims changed appearances several times during his Adult phase when he was a athletic player, an athletic coach, and then a political candidate. There were perhaps four changes between his "thirties" and his late elder period. Another of my Sims started out in University with just some fuzz on his chin. As he advanced through college and throughout his adult career, his beard eventually grew. This changed after he became a vampire: vampire facial hair has an odd blue tint, so he changed his appearance completely. |
