@matrix54 I'd argue that it was a combination of both being announced too early as well as mispromoted. The promotion was a disaster but also if you go back to the first trailer you can clearly see that the EP was barely finished, they were still in the midst of working on it. I believe they even admitted this when they announced the delay since they said it gave them more time to polish up things and even add the diving board and don't wake the llama.
The end product turned out to be drastically different than that what we had seen first promoted. Had it not been delayed, and released in the state of the original promo, reception would not have been so good.
Things are not looking good for the Sims 4... unless this has happened before? Pretty new to the Sims series, not quite familiar with how EA has handled marketing for the previous games.
Across our portfolio of live services, we launched hundreds of content updates
throughout the year, bringing players deeper into their favorite games. Our Sims 4
player base grew by almost two-thirds throughout the year, and our Battlefield franchise
saw 9.4 million unique players in Q4 alone.
I think they just won't be there because it looks like they'll just have a SP to announce. They are on a really tight announcement schedule nowadays so anything new we get from the game will come one or two month after hearing about it. We already know that we are getting the dining pack this month and the kids stuff pack next month likely. I'm guessing that's why.

It bugs me that these tables are square-ish and not round, they don't feel like restaurant tables but more like the basic tables with a cloth on top. Also they ditched their "Get ..." trend; too bad it could have been "Get Eating"
If that bundle release is correct then that would mean they're announcing the pack tomorrow because they always announce 2 weeks before release. I doubt that date is right since that is a Thursday and they only release on Tuesdays. Thursdays are patch days.
I wonder if they are going to add the blogging feature back in from TS3, since there are a lot of food and restaurant blogs and the sims already take pictures of everything. Although I didn't use that much in 3 (I only remembered it now because I saw Youtubers Life on Steam) I think it could be a big thing in this game since the sims are always on their computers, phones, and tablets. It feels like a big social aspect that's missing.
Edit: I decided to look up experiment cuisine. It's basically food that it's overly designed and polished to be more arty, but can also can incredibly minimalist. There isn't a lot of food on the plate.
It's what those restaurants who charge you for atmosphere l, rather than food, do.
Edit: Now the hair is raising on the back of my neck. I'm having imaginary friend flash backs...
Am I the only one who liked the imaginary friends? They were creepy and I've had situations like when one was literally hovering over its assigned kid, watching him take a bath. But when they're not being deranged stalkers, they're kinda cute. And when they are being deranged stalkers....it's really funny XD
