Entry for round 5 community lot (3x3)
Well, I finished mine a few days ago but hadn't got around to uploading, so here we go. I present Rookton Community Centre
The left building houses the library, art gallery and small studio. The right building houses a restaurant, dance floor, and at the top, spa pools (with toilets and showers).
From the back: on the left are the main toilets, on the right, the parenting room, and in the middle a stage.
(Slightly elevated to show the back of the brick buildings as well)
Entering the main building on the ground floor:
Entry to the library with stairs up to the art gallery, the children's library at the right.
Part of the library
In the other part of the library there are computers.
Another view of children's library
Upstairs:
Entry to the art gallery
Part of the gallery
A small studio attached to the gallery
Now into the other building - the restaurant
and the restaurant kitchen (there's a sprinkler just out of shot)
Upstairs is the dance floor and bar, where Sims can get flirty and romantic
(this space can be hired out for events),
or they can go up the stairs to the spa pools
At the back, behind the children's library, is the small playground
and that building behind the playground is the parenting room
(That door leads to a toilet.)
At the other corner at the back are the main toilets behind the barbecue area
And just near the barbecue area is a secluded corner away from the playground.
Between the toilets and parent room is the stage where Sims can entertain others or be entertained
Last but not least is the photo booth for young Sims to sneak away to.
Foundation:
Now floor plans
Ground floor of both buildings
Ground floorplan of left building - ie the library
2nd level plan of left building - ie art gallery
Overall 1st floor (level 2) both buildings
Ground level of right building - ie restaurant
Note high chair in corner for parents who need it
2nd level plan of right building - ie dance floor
Top level of right building
Now for the other buildings at the back
The parenting room:
The stage:
The main toilets:
Not sure if price pic is required. My lot's the most expensive so far.
I created the brick recolours, mural, "picnic blanket" and two paintings.

Even after eating though, Joe had another problem: he had meant to take a shower before leaving home, but the taxi came. Now he was regretting not getting that shower. He went into the parenting room (thus testing for me that it was accessible) and washed his hands, but it clearly wasn't enough. So much to Trevor's disappointment, he had to say goodbye to Alice and go home with his dad.
So my Sims' verdict on the lot: Trevor loved it and wants to go back. He wants to dance on that dance floor. Joe liked it too, but thinks it would be better if it had showers. Trevor agrees, because, if his dad hadn't had to go home, he could have stayed playing with Alice much longer. Well, I pay attention to my Sims, and I started thinking about how to add showers to the lot. I thought about replacing a stall or urinal in the female and male toilets with a shower, but using the communal shower (which seemed most appropriate) would mean having naked and clothed Sims together in the same public room, and I somehow thought thy wouldn't like that. Then I remembered these communal beach showers which allow Sims to shower in their swimwear, so I downloaded and installed them. I've placed two of them at the poolside so Sims can shower before they get in. Today I'll send Joe and Trevor back to try them out, and also see if I can get Trevor to dance while his dad plays on the bandstand. After that I'll test sending Sims with toddlers to make sure the toddler facilities work. I don't have the Pets, so I can't use dickhurt's mod to actually send the toddlers to the lot with their parents or siblings, so I'll have to try and teleport them in. For that reason I've put Inge's teleporter shrubs (not the cats -- they need Pets too) in the front corners near the portals, so teleported-in Sims will appear in the same part of the lot as Sims who just walk in.
All told, provided there are no problems with the toddlers, I'm quite happy with the lot, over-the-top though it undoubtedly is.
Peni, I wonder if you could give me a link to those "Pride" flags, as I think Andrew and his friends might like to have them in Veronaville. I don't think they'll be needed in Elswyn (my contest 'hood) though, as it seems all the Sims there are straight, which may be a "first" in my game! Well, maybe not Trevor Elliott, but I think for the moment he's quite content to be a boy who likes pink, and flowers, and butterflies, and dancing, and (it seems) playing with girls. It's one of the things I love about the Sims. In real life a child like him would likely end up bullied and miserable, but in The Sims, he can just be himself, and be a happy and quite delightful child.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sweet Mystre and yavannatw I like your lots. Of course yours is expensive, yavannatw! It's all those valuable works of art in the gallery! And, Sweet Mystre, please don't make too many changes to your petting zoo -- it's a wonderful place as it is!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here's another "taster" pic of mine:
Trevor is at the top of the tower. Two levels below him, and party hidden by the post that holds the tower up, you can just see Alice Kraemer coming to the top of the steps. His dad's legs (in the white shorts!) are also visible in the bandstand.

Looking good guys.
Judge two who has computer issues had to redo her entire score sheet but I have those now safe and sound. I will get judge 3 scores across to my sheet tomorrow, but scores probably won't go up until the day after.

@AndrewGloria: The specific flags I was looking for in the dream (which turned out to be on curtains) can be downloaded here:
http://twofingerswhiskey.tumblr.com...gs-by-2fw-hello
The Totally Maxis tumblr (http://totallymaxis.tumblr.com/) is doing a Pride Month theme, asking for submissions of Pride-themed content and pictures of premades celebrating. So far they have four different flag meshes, including a hand-held accessory flag (which, alas, is not available for children, so Jonathan Elliot's dad had to carry his for him), with slightly different sets of flags. Also some other themed accessories, t-shirts, and some face paint.
If you search for "wireless guy pride" in the downloads here at MTS, too, you should find a variety of rainbow recolors of Maxis items, some of which I've also used on the Crooked Beach Community Center. If you ever feel you need a sparkly rainbow-colored grill, hot tub, or piano, wireless guy has you covered.
Technically, I think I have all the pics I need, but I'm torn. I have a couple of spots that I particularly want to show being used, and though the build mode shots I took of them are all right, I messed up the live mode shots. (Damn OMSPs.) So I can do one more picture session and maybe get exactly what I want or maybe screw up again, or I can take the perfectly good but less interesting pictures I've got and probably post today. And I'm having health crap, so the effort involved in loading up the game and sending the Newmans out for the third time in one of their days seems monumental. But dammit, showing the dogs using the bathing fountain would be so cool! Experience tells me that you get better scores if you make the person judging laugh or squee. (Learned this in high school. Making the teacher laugh, so long as it was done without introducing inaccuracies, was worth a whole grade step on the paper. Most high school papers are dull as dirt and teachers need a break.)
Ugly is in the heart of the beholder.
(My simblr isSim Media Res . Widespot,Widespot RFD: The Subhood, and Land Grant University are all available here. In case you care.)

Round 5 Council Leisure Centre
Well I have no idea what has gone wrong with my game but I can't load a lot with sims in it. I can build all I want but no playing hence no pics with sims. It was fine two days ago when I tested the lot in my test hood, but I didn't take any pics as I wanted to use the Wee Toon sims. This is happening in a clean folder and after a repair of the game as well as my normal folder. I just don't have the heart for the 12 hour download to reinstall the UC with no guarantee that it would work. The game crashed during taking the pics so at this stage I'll just have to make do with what I did manage to get. My SimPE has also stopped working. Something really weird is going on but I have no clue as to what or how to fix it. History of the lot (more of my ramblings hence spoilered)
Back in the 50s when Wee Village was just turning into Wee Toon, Up Standin the first leader of the council and a man of great vision decided that a tax on the local industries should be levied. With the resulting monies he set up a trust that would mature in 25 years and allow for expansion in what he hoped would, by then, be a thriving town. Mr Standin survived just long enough to see his dream fulfilled when, in 1978, the council built the leisure centre. Initially the project was a great success allowing the residents to enjoy many varied activities. However, with the decline in industry, money to keep the project alive dried up and even the building itself began to fall into disrepair. This sorry state of affairs would have continued but for the election of a bright new spark. Under Standin, a direct descendant of Up had the brilliant idea of offering places to businesses within the leisure centre if they sponsored an activity. Enough money was raised to allow for the renovation of the building with the installation of ramps and elevators for the disabled as well as new signage with large print and Braille to fall in line with the council's policy on equality.

Pics of the individual areas
For skilling there is a bookcase in the Feather cafe, exercise equipment in the gym and the childrens/toddler areas have toys. There are easels and pottery wheels for both adults and kids in the art studio and of course the pool.
For fun there are all of the above plus, for the daring, the rooftop rink.
Giovanni's, the Bower and, for those inclined that way, the photo booth fulfill the romantic/flirty requirement.
The council gardener loves purple and, as she was given free reign, she went wild with it in these plantings. On the other side of the building there is a small pond with fishing.
Pic showing the new disabled ramps and disabled parking. In the background there is the wheelchair access for the pool. It is also handy for those with young ones to quickly get those prams and littlies to the play area.
The pool, complete with tube and whale slides, has seating on both long sides and a lit water feature.
BBQ area. Using the leftover funds the council installed an outdoor cooking and seating area for the local families to enjoy.
Allsorts of things to keep the littlies happy from swings to assault courses and bouncy castles to wading pools.
Another view of the playground complete with outdoor arrow darts especially for the Lambert boys.
The bower is reached along a rose edged pathway. Candlelit during the evening hours it attracts both those wishing to find a little peace surrounded by nature and also those desirous of some privacy with that special somesim.
When Toni Iommi's parents arrived from Simtalia in the 50s they opened the very first Iommi's Ices. Now a thriving franchise, Toni decided to give back to the community by sponsoring the outdoor children's play area.
The Feather Cafe, renowned for it's "feather" like cakes and healthy fruit (all of which is edible) also sells a fine selection of tea and coffee. They sponsored the indoor play areas, feeding rooms and the baby care stations.
Leaving the cafe from the other door leads past the toilets to the fenced play area which has seating (just out of shot) to allow tired sim parents to take a load off whilst their kids play in safety. The play table is sure to keep the older kids happy whilst no toddler could resist the variety of toddler toys available.
Moving past the lactation rooms the second play area , whilst still providing opportunities for play, allows both parent and child to prepare food. I especially like the polar bear sofa! lol The door that can be seen on the far end of the room has a toddler proof gate and leads to the quiet room with changing stations and cots.
Moving upstairs, Giovanni's sponsored this small art studio. Those wishing to learn either painting or pottery can take lessons from Country and Moonbeam Rhodes. The work of the local sims is proudly displayed on the walls and shelves.
Giovanni's is perfect for a family meal or a romantic candlelit date. They pride themselves on using only the freshest local organic produce. They are currently discussing the purchase of the Rhode's surplus crops.
The gym is a great spot for all the athletic sims in the neighbourhood or just those wishing to work off those calories from the fine foods available. There is equipment for both aerobic and strengh workouts with a changing room with shower and lockers being provided.
The aromatherapy studio was opened by Ceinwen Lloyd as a way to make some cash whilst she works on her dream of becoming a pop star. She is also working on her other dream of becoming Mrs Evan's hence she sponsored the gym (with a heavy bank loan). But love is blind! Unfortunately so Is Dafydd Evan's when it comes to the charms of Ms Llyod. He does, however, love the gym
Moving to the top floor we find the Pancake stall and burger hut. These small franchises saw an opportunity to break into the Wee Toon market and so sponsored the Roller Rink. Although the area is perfectly safe with full wall height toughened glass fencing some sims prefer to avoid this area. It is though popular with the teens of the town who enjoy the chance to meet up with friends and skate to the blaring music that puts their parents off from joining them.

I've enjoyed the comp and learned so much. I just wish I'd been able to get better pics and especially of the signs I made as I've never seen brailled signs for sims anywhere else lol. For this lot I made my first wallpaper and recoloured my first rug (all mister men). Thanks to Jo for hosting the competition and good luck to all the participants.
Now me and Plumpy are off the fermented juice bar

Round 5 Play Along
Right, I think I'm done! May I present the Community Garden:The Community Garden, owned by Trent Traveller, boasts a fully stocked pond, fruit and vegetables ready for harvesting, parenting room, toilets, showers, a hot tub, and a playground for the kids.
The original foundation has become toilets, walkway and fountain.
Okay, first let's check out the provision for the kids.
The parenting room is conveniently located next to the toilets. It contains ample seating for the parents and toys for the kids; cot, changing table and potty; and a mini kitchen containing a fridge and microwave.
Arthur Walter potty trains his son, Marco, whilst Darryl Elliot plays with the building blocks. The parenting room has windows on all sides, so parents of multiple children can keep an eye on anyone who's stayed outside.
Speaking of outside, the playground's main attraction is the three-story tower, which the Lambert boys and Darryl are playing on here.
Some floorplan shots:
Underneath the tower, is mainly the domain of the toddlers who struggle climbing up, but the older kids sometimes play here too.
The top of the tower is a lookout, which the kids love.
It also has a great view over the whole Garden, and much of the town, too.
The sandpit is prime toddler playground, although there are activites for older kids and grown-ups too. The toddlers can ride the motorbike, play in the water bucket, and play with several small toys, whilst kids of all ages can comb for treasure and build sandcastles.
The playground also contains swings, a roundabout, a smaller play tower, and monkey bars. (Hey, sims'll get flirty anywhere!).
Now for the adults (otherwise known as big kids), Don't Wake the Llama and chess provide fun (and skilling) for the whole family. Watering the many flowers is everyone's job - it is a community garden, after all.
In the centre of the garden is the pond, well stocked for fishing.
The garden also has lots of havestable crops and trees, which the community works together to keep in good shape, producing fruit and vegetables year after year. Joy and Ivy Rhodes, who are master gardeners, are always willing to lend a hand and educate their neighbours - looking after the garden is a good souce of skill badges (There's also axe throwing because why not? It's about as far away from the playground as possible...)
The fountain is a perfect place to sit and rest awhile, or perhaps even get a little flirty...
(not these two!)
There's a grill (visible in the pond shot), and someone's always making food after a hard day's work in the gardens.
The showerblock is conveniently located at the back of the garden, next to the hot tub. Gardening can be dirty work, and it's also a useful place to change into your swimwear before a relaxing dip in the hot tub.
Much of the lot is well lit at night, particularly the grill and hot tub, which are most likely to be used after dark.
The playground is less well lit, as the kids aren't often their that late, but there's enough light coming from the windows of the parenting room for a little after-dark playing.
The chess area is of course well-lit, with lanters strung between posts.
♫Cuz I don't have a home in this life, I have to roam. Got nowhere to lay my head, so I'll follow you instead, and set my gaze on the place I'm going to. Til then I'm homeless, but I'll roam with you...♫

Round 5 Entry - Growing Green Plant Nursery - TONS of CC!
I thought: Where would you see three generations of a family on an outing together? Ikea of course! - Or possibly on a fine Sunday morning they might have a wander round the local garden centre, buy a few extra things for the garden and have brunch at the cafe.So I present to you the Growing Green Plant Nursery and Garden Centre, at Contestville. This is a small community, so it is only a small lot (3x3).
The other compulsory shots are here
The roof of the main shop building is transparent, so you can see right down to the shop floor.
There is a dedicated family room for parents with young Sims, conveniently located in the same block as the toilets. There sleepy tykes can take a nap, be changed or cleaned up and there is an activity table to keep them amused. There is even a plumbed in toddler toilet, so potty trainees are catered for without any need for emptying. Thank you, Rebecah!
Toddler mealtimes are catered for with the rest of the family, in the on site cafe. The cafe is only small, so no hot meals are available. The cakes are very popular, though, and so are the friendly staff. There is a large terrace out back so Sims can enjoy the garden while eating.
Of course, shopping is the main purpose of a garden centre. The central building holds the tills and the main shop displays, although Sims can also pick up plants in pots as they wander round the grounds. There is a small administrative office in the back of the shop. Sims can also learn flower arranging here.
As well as the facilities in the family room, there is a playground outside for the young in years and the young at heart.
The greenhouse contains the more exotic plants. Bananas anyone? The garden around it shows how the plants on sale should look in a permanent setting. See it, like it, buy it.
Growing Green also sells pond plants, and the pond display is considered particularly pretty, not to say, romantic. Gilly Walters proposed to her husband right beside the pond bench. They like to come back and visit it on the anniversary of the proposal,
Orris go away. They don't want to listen to a dirty joke.

Thank you. The trellis with the clematis is by Shakeshaft at TSR - I have a lot of her stuff on the lot. https://www.thesimsresource.com/art...ge/19/cnt/1093/
It is from the Trellis Garden set.

Wow! I like the idea of not only a garden, but the ability to learn how to arrange the flowers from the plants you buy! That's so cool! Every small section of space has something interesting going on, and I really like the use of the dummy roof and CFE.
One thing, though, and I hate to sound like I'm nitpicking with such a gorgeous lot ... some of the pictures have grid lines.
Y'know, though, with all the use of great CC in all these entries ... there might be a subsection of this contest forum JUST for WCIFs at the end. I see myself thinking, "Oooh ... cool ... want that." "Oh! Where did that person get THAT?". etc.
Thanks to ALL free-site creators, admins and mods.
RIP Sunni ... truly a ray of light.

Yay plants There will be plenty on my lot when I finish it too
I found some time to build yesterday and the main components of my lot are ready (unless I decide to change something), but I need to properly decorate everything, make a garden, put go through/around blocks under decorations that could block the way, lamps, and play test everything. I’ll have plenty of time soon so I’ll definitely manage to finish my lot before the deadline And it will be more expensive than I thought, it already costs over 200k.

I should get the scores up today (my today) it's currently morning over here. I know the table needs updating and stuff but I figure you are all more interested in scores-yes?

I admit that with the utter RL chaos that went on with my life in the last round and the nasty builder's block I had before I finally found the house I wanted to inspire me, I'm actually afraid to see my scores this time. I can only hope I didn't bomb that much. And this round might not be faring much better RL-wise, apparently (another family member is really ill, though with another malady, and I'm really concerned about how this will be treated), though I at least have time to post my entry and will have a day or two to make any last-minute corrections I need to make, unlike last round, where I had to pretty much post and go. So honestly ... I'm good with the score posting however you want to handle it.

Thank you, scottiedoag! Reading several of these posts, it seems like a bunch of us had a lot of stress and trouble in our lives throughout this contest period. I think it would be amazing if all 15 of the final round entrants and the 6 play-alongs manage to put out anything at all, and I find all the previous entries pretty darn amazing so far. It hasn't been an easy ride for many of us over the last couple of months. I almost imagine this as the end of a marathon!

It definitely is for me as it’s the end of the semester, I have the last test tomorrow and I’ll be finally free Provided I do well enough of course, otherwise I’d have to take a second attempt. I wish my semesters were shorter though, 15 weeks seems like a lot, and classes last 1.5h each (with a few exceptions of some labs that lasted 2 and 3h). It’s also 5 years for master’s instead of 4 like in lots of different countries.

Scores soon guys, I'm just going over all the entries. Also sorry about the scary triangles showing up when I hail on the thread-I know I use to hate getting a triangle pm.

*Note from me: Well from busyness to score sheets being eaten by cantankerous computers and now Word doing a bit of a number on the punctuation (I did my best to clean up all the weird symbols it shoved in) It is now finally here, round 4 scores!
Judge 1 Note to contestants: I loved all of your entries this time around, you have all upped your game tremendously, well done!

Comments: I just want to thank you, right off, for keeping your bathroom tiles consistent between each floor. In addition you compensated for big rooms with the same flooring by using carepts-as-rugs which was done a lot this round but it's a great technique! Some little details I appreciate are the BBQ shelter you constructed outback, very nice and a bit different than plopping the grill out there. I also like the big walk-in closet you built - very appropriate for party sims! I like the columns and the modern shape of this house, kind of like someone playing Jenga. My one and only critique is that I think your exterior choices are a bit wonky-looking. Maybe use either the yellow brick OR the light brown wood but both seem too similar when contrasting against the black. The yard is aces and your build was well done.

Comments: A very bright, modern looking house, although I'm not so sure yellow is a modern colour. The roof would've benefited from a stage or dummy floor level as it ends rather abruptly above the windows. The living area looks a little empty in my opinion, try adding some pot plants to fill up the space.

Comments: He certainly has a good gym room going for him! I like how the upper bathroom is laid out for the little space it has, I think the interior space is used well for most rooms. The lap pool is a nice thought since he's going for the Olympics and that narrow shape will keep him on track. While the house is a modern shape, the interior color palette is not. Yellow and purple could be an attractive contrastive combination but I don't think it works in a modern home. In addition, the fencing is garish and invokes an 80's 'Memphis style' or a circus with its bright primary colors and overall pushes the aesthetic away from a modern feel.
Jo: I like your colour scheme. James is one lucky guy, all that gym equipment and a girl friend to boot. can you please ensure that your front and back shots are taken from just above sim height not from up in the air. The foundation shot is the overall shot. Another hint for inside pictures is to use the wall tool to undo the wall, take your shot and use the back arrow to replace instead of taking the shot though the window since this dulls the picture. 64 + 5 no cc bonus 69

Comments: I think this is a really slick looking lot! First thing, the checkered wood and cement terrain for the back pool area looks great! That could be a tricky idea to pull off with the wrong tile combo but it's seamlessly modern looking here
I think you may have gotten the requirements mixed up because a stereo AND yoga mat counts as one piece of 'workout equipment' but you split it up so you technically don't have three 'workout' items plus a pool going with those guidelines.
The grey tile on the outside and inside is a bit jarring. A tiled bedroom always seems cold and impersonal, but you did put a simulated rug in there to lessen that, but I still am going to suggest you don't use your outdoor tile material for your indoor flooring choices as well. The yard is fantastic and I like the grey/aqua color scheme you have going on.
Jo: I love your colour choices for this house, it's a nice take on modern and I love the fence around the property I haven't thought of using that combo. 72 + 5 no cc bonus 77

Comments: I am actually very taken by this home. It's exterior is a bit bland but the interior and landscaping is where you have the bang for your buck. It's nearly exquisite, how everything you have in here ties together decor and interior design wise. I'm always a fan of the secret bookcase passage to the room with no kids allowed. I like how you used carpet to simulate rugs on the wooden floors and the details in the kitchen areas. Even that pale blue tile under the meal preparation area doesn't look out of place and fits in with the room's palette. The kid's room is fantastic! The garden areas is beautiful and I like that the bike enthusiast parent has a work out bike in their shed. I don't really have any other nitpicks, so good job!

Comments: I'm sorry to start off all negative-nancy, but there is something aesthetically that's not hitting the mark when I look at this house, could be the gloomy exterior, gray/brown faded shingling style. Makes me think the only parties worth having are ones at Halloween. I think the front side looks fine build-wise, however I don't dig that wide terrace with the thin support columns where some are on foundation and others are stacked (CFE'd) on each other? Maybe another factor is the way the terrace tile clashes against that shingling I mentioned earlier but it's just not pleasing to look at. So here is what I do like and think works well: The side of the yard where you have squares of terrain paint that look like stepping stones - I love that design detail. I like the simulated rugs in the upper floor in the main bedroom and the hallway. I love the shower room and layout of your upper bathroom and I like the way the stairs are L-shaped on the main floor. Flooring is so tricky - I know it seems I dig on people a lot of flood-filling, but the remedy to that isn't using a ton of different types either. You are using way too many different flooring tiles in this lot (7 by my count). The bedrooms have differing floors, the bathrooms have differing floors, and the outside porch has differing tiles than the outside terrace. A good rule of thumb for floors is to be consistent in the look for each type of room (carpet in bedrooms, tiles in kitchen and bathroom, wood in hallways) unless there's something specifically outlined in wants or requirements where you can add more or less to fit the narrative. The one last thing I wanted to mention was that the zig-zag type roofing looked brilliant and really gave the house character!
Jo: I really like the wavy awning roof, I'll have to remember that trick and also those cute garden pavers. 67.5 + 5 no cc bonus 72.5

I think the front of the house is very charming and you picked a great exterior color-combo in that dark red/white brick. I really like the thought you put into a side garden to attract wild birds and bugs, plus the koi fish - showing the Newman's go above and beyond loving just their adopted/indoor pets. The garden is beautiful as well, very serene and well-landscaped! I like that you put the bathtub in a shed and not just out in the yard either. Overall, I like the layout of the house; I like your sun room for where the cats can relax, the overhanging plant room, the marine bathroom too. I think the paw print linoleum is overkill for every room on the first floor of a house; I see there's a variance of some bigger paw designs but something that bright and that patterned, even when it fits the motif, doesn't look as good when it's in every room. (It seems more like a kitschy floor for a pet store, trying to sell something rather than be lived in.) The thought behind it definitely has merit whereas you don't want animals to scratch the floor but you maybe could have sprung for some neutral tile in the kitchen and living room just so there isn't blue, red, yellow, pink, or green clashing.
Jo: I love the cheery exterior and garden. 71 + 5 no cc bonus 76

Comments: It was a great idea to put their painting/pottery room in a separate building, and I silo no less - very recycled purpose room there! I like the evolution of style of the exterior. It still has a sense of second-hand rather than 'clash everything!' which works sometimes on these Rhodes entries, but it's always nice to see a more elegant flow of harmony in the Rhodes that still maintains that hippie artist vibe. Those counters, I think, are too funky fresh for my eyes. I know they like to recycle but did they have to lift something that looks like it's from a five-year-old's birthday party with a confetti theme when they had such a charming/quirky farm house set up going? The cheap plastic of the counters don't do it justice I tell you! The flowering lights do though. I like the extra rooms for flowers and sewing craft. The outside is well landscaped and pretty chillax, I dig it and I think the Rhodes are in a good place here.
Jo: I like their eclectic mix, plus a bubble blower, reminds me of Woodstock. Can you try and get in closer with your overheads. I have bad eyes and it's really too far for me to see properly. Each separate building on your lot should have its own floor plan. 68 + 5 no cc bonus 73

Comments: I think this a cozy place for the Newman's and their fluffy, feathered, and furry friends. The roof is nice, though I would have kept the green exterior on the roof area, instead of white - seemed like a random change for randoms' sake on the exterior.
The inside is great! I'm loving the rooster motif on the rug that flows into the bathroom areas and kudos on having an awkward room shape and making it work with the upper bathroom. I think you could have done without the second womrat in the main bedroom. I had a gerbil once in 3rd grade and it's cage was in my room. The sucker dug around all night and distracted me from sleep! Besides, you already have a required womrat downstairs so you've fulfilled the family requirement. The other thing I think you could remove is the cat box in the upstairs bathroom. It's kind of in the middle of the way and with that open shower, it'd be pure torture walking through stray grains of litter right after getting clean! I believe 2 cats can share one cat box and if one is occupied, the other can go outside. I love the way the dining area is set up with the booth seats, it adds to the coziness and overall I think your interior is rich and harmonizes well. The backyard tiles area is very nice, and I like the little corner for the toy dog too! Nice job!

Comments: I think it's rather impressive you have created all your homes so far with this very distinct desert-oasis style so taking a moment to say I appreciate that!
Now for those kooky Rhodes and their hippie agenda - I think it's fab they have this kind of shrubbery growing around their home and even in their bed room - very 'one with nature' kind of feel. I think the layout is great too, it's kind of mysterious, or maybe I just get that feeling looking in the kitchen that looks like a jungle temple.
The exterior is gorgeous! I don't particularly like the lights used in the green house areas; the sconces seem too big and awkward on the wooden frames. I feel like if you needed light in those greenhouse areas, instead of tacking lights on the greehouse walls - the string of lights or an assortment of lamps would have done better and you could have had fun with mixing the different lamp types instead of the same wall sconce. Overall, it's a pretty weird place that you did a good job with.

Comments: I love the shape of this modern house, however I think there's too many types of exterior styles and it makes it look convoluted. I think the red and wood are very attractive together and was kind of dismayed at the next picture of the back and it looked like a totally different house because of the abrupt change in exterior!
So I guess if anything, I would lose the darker grey and then bring the wood around to replace those sections and keep the light grey stones for around the support columns above the pool. I gotta say, the gym, kitchen, pool area (curved corners are very attractive), and living room are fly AF. That's some great interior detail you put in, I think you are the first I have seen to use the surf board (and your Evans Sim looks like he would surf too!) and it looks great! My other critique is that I wish you would have put a bathroom on the first floor, even just a half bathroom so they have access to a toilet instead of having to go all the way upstairs, lets say if he or his guests are out swimming and their bladders are running low. Speaking of bathrooms, I feel that yours is too big for what's in it. You could have easily put a wall between the bath and shower, or made a shower room within that space to lose make better use of the space because it's looking too empty right now.
Jo: Nice modern build, I like the brick columns by the pool. Can I also ask you to get in closer with your floor plans, just the building. 67 + 5 no cc bonus 72.5

Comment: First off, I think this one of the only homes I have seen this competition without a roof, and it's kind of refreshing to see a simple flat top home with some low fencing around the edges. There's also something nice about using low hedges as the porch base. A greener feeling - and that ivy on the exterior is a nice touch too. The backyard is cute for the small space and I like the detail in the work shed, even using the toolbox wardrobe to get that tinkering look. There's too much of one floor going on inside. I understand the first floor since it's open and you did good by putting that blue rug to kind of break up the endless sea of orange-red wood but upstairs you didn't use rugs in the bedroom. I would have suggested using carpet but if you really needed it to be all the same tile, I think you should have put a rug in each bedroom or simulated one with a few carpet tiles. I think it's fracking great you used the secret bookshelf to get in the requirement of an office only the adult should have access to. Other little details I appreciate are the dancing stuff in the upstairs area leaning heavily toward ballet and the closet at the entrance - very realistic! Overall you did a good job!

Comments: This is my favourite of your submissions! I love the aqua colour scheme, reminds me of the 1920s and the Art Deco period. Well thought out layout too. I love the pool area too. How did you do the plant in the vase by the stair or is it CC? I can see why you added that smaller window in the kitchen but I think I would've left it out as to me it looks a little odd. Swapping the kitchen area with the table and chairs could be an option and then you could use one of the long windows.

Comments: I'm being pulled in two different ways when I look at this house. One one hand I feel like it's fresh, modern style and on the other I get a blast from
the past in the kind of palette you are using with the aqua exterior and the zebra stripes motif. I don't think it's awful at all, I know sometimes a gaudy style of yesteryear can ruin the design of a place but it has an odd sense of harmony here. I love your little BBQ area deck and pool shape. The dance floor is definitely
a big disco area - and that tile adds to this bizarre retro harmony. It's good you went with a solid color to bump up against it to balance the pattern and solid to avoid a clash. I dig the spiral stairs and in general, the overall interior. Good job.

Comments: This is a supremely charming Victorian styled home. I love the floor plans for each floor and how you made the angles work - the space is used very, very well.
I like the use of the bunk beds for the boys room, and good on you for putting in those toddler beds because it would have affected playability if those toddlers were screaming at 3 in the morning to be let out and waking their brothers up but with those beds they can get out and go on their way without making such a fuss. I like tree house and the yard is simple but effective. That entrance area is so cute! The flooring choices are great, carpet for bedrooms, wood for hallways, dining, kitchen, and then a practical bathroom tile for the teens and more of a bright tile for the kids. Super good job!
Jo: I love the decor throughout, especially the stairwell area and the tree house out the back. 75

Comments: I gotta say, when casually looking through these entries as they were being submitted, this was a stand-out for me. I think a lighthouse was a brilliant concept to interpret into a recycled style home and it's really really well-built with all those angled walls and levels. I love all the layers - the little design details like the plumbbob carpet-as-a-pool towel, the sink in the bedroom, the pool shape, the stage tool in the bathroom with the collected knick-knacks the family would collect, books! To read! In the bathtub! I find the peace sign window and the highway tile in the bathroom a bit off-kilter but this family is off-kilter by nature being retired hippie artists. Comments: Overall I think the house is an interesting shape and a pretty fun modern design. I consider the bedroom awfully huge and you could have enlarged the upstairs bathroom to turn it into a master bathroom connected to his room for all the extra space there. The floors are flood-filled, and with a cement-looking tile that doesn't really invoke modern aesthetic but more of a really cold, bland, unwelcoming one, especially when the living room area looks so empty. My favorite interior parts are the stairs and the upper hallway and how the desk is under the stairs. I think the outside exterior could have benefited without the touches of blue contrast and the hot tub could have benefited from tiles underneath it instead of out there in the grass. Most hot tubs I see IRL are on some kind of treated surface. Otherwise I think the landscaping is nice and simple.

Good job.

Jo: I love light house residences. The sign out the front is cute. I hope you upload it. 73 + 5 no cc bonus 78

Comments: Wow, bright! But I like it! I like all of it except for the downstairs seating area. I think that would've been better further into the room or maybe a smaller bedroom and a proper lounge area upstairs? I like the landscaping but a little more variety in plants would've been nice and a little colour.

Jo: Fun looking design, I like the pool area. 66.6 + 5 no cc bonus 71.5

@Aysarth - I love your lot. I could not help remembering us moving into a house without any garden at all, (a long time ago) but a rather big yard - and we would go to the nursery on Saturdays for months on end to buy plants and had lunch in their deli After lunch at the deli we went back home and dug holes and planted all our new stuff, and the kids and the dogs all helped with the digging One day I bought and planted a baby monkey puzzle tree in a corner. Years later, after we have moved, I passed by that house and could not see much, since the new owners had high walls around it, but I did see one huge, magnificent-looking monkey puzzle tree standing much higher than the walls) .

I’m happy with my score I understand the dislike to those lamps in the conservatory, they do see a bit too big, but they’re one of those rare lights that actually give warm light, so I decided to use them (I hate white light and I only use it if I can’t afford the porch light hidden in walls that give the warmest light in the game).

Reason: Grain bin, grain bin ....

My score could have been worse, so I'm relieved. I'm confused about the requirement score on the first evaluation, however, since the requirements were "A good size fruit and veg garden. A place to sew, paint and make pottery", and they have an entire grain bin for the painting and the pottery and a nook for sewing, as well as four fruit trees and fourteen plots for the veggies. I thought I made sure that they had plenty of room and opportunity to do their things. Maybe I didn't make the fruit and veggie portion large enough? Dunno. All I know is that given the circumstances, plus that I had to post several days earlier and could not fix anything significant once I submitted my entry and had to hope I nailed everything, my score could have been far worse. I honestly thought I'd bomb big-time this round because emotionally and physically, I was all over the place. So I'm thankful for that.
Also, I'm going to have an even worse problem with the overheads in this build. I have five or six buildings on a 4x4 lot (depends if you count the attached lecture hall as a building)! Egads. If I were to make shots of each floor plan, it would take up a good chunk of my entry! However, I'm thinking my original idea to at least break it up into two or three overheads might be a better idea than trying to do a larger overhead. I'm taking pictures now, and even though I'm making the pictures larger (still fitting within screenshot guidelines), I'm squinting when I look at them! Just as long as I don't get points deducted for breaking up the floor shots. I have a small building in the back, a two-story separate building, and a whole bunch of buildings in one cluster. If I do left side/right side, and/or add the building in the back as its own shot, that might work better. One more reason why I'd like to post a little earlier ... I'd like to make sure this entry is easier to see, because as it stands now, even I admit it really isn't. I'll plan my pictures as if I'm going to put in the two or three extra layout shots and work things that way. So instead of 8 + 16 (three floors), I'll do 10 + 14 or 11 + 13? Or are the floor shots going to be part of the essential shots and I still have 16 extra shots? Any of those ways are fine. I just want to get the show on the road.

Wow, my highest score yet! I was expecting a lower one this time, since it got a lot fewer "loves" than earlier houses, but judges and the general public do not always see eye-to-eye and I'm happy to be surprised. I knew I was taking a chance with all those colors and that linoleum all over; but I expected the intense pinkness of certain parts of the house to be the main problem. Once again proving that I have no idea how to pander and am wise not to try. The bird garden came naturally to me, as I'm a frustrated birdwatcher who hasn't been able to bird properly very often for a few years now. Bear this in mind when you see how many birds I put into the Crooked Beach Community Center.
I have all my pictures taken, edited where necessary, and winnowed down to 21, but if we could get floor plans of each individual building added to the "required" count without reducing the 16 optional ones, I have some I'd be happy to put back in. Naw, didn't think so. I think Jo will like the parenting set-up. I'll try to get the pics up today but at this point I've been awake for a little over 24 hours. My BFF was in the ICU (his own damn fault and he's doing well) and we stayed visiting him late enough that we decided to eat out instead of cooking, and I carelessly ordered ice tea even though it wasn't decaf. My husband refers to caffeine, when I consume it, as "speed." I expect every moment to collapse and do not trust myself to post pictures in this state. But if the inevitable nap restores my coherence and leaves me enough time before visiting hours I'll get right on it.
And I'm babbling, a good sign that sleep may be finally approaching. Good morning, y'all. Have lots of pictures for me to look at when I wake up.
