This user has the following games installed:

Sims 3, World Adventures, Late Night, Generations, Pets, Showtime, Supernatural, Seasons, University Life, Island Paradise, Into the Future
launcher opens multiple windows, duplicates sims3packs, installs nothing?
hey there!
links to screencaps of my system specs-

i'm trying to install some sims3packs, i just installed the game on this computer for the first time. my last laptop broke in the fall and i just hadn't had time to play it since. i installed it all from origin, if that's an important data point.

i installed some stuff the other day successfully- some patterns, some store sets, basic stuff like that. no problem with any of them. i've installed packages as well and haven't had a single hitch of hiccup! it's actually been really encouraging, since it crashed so much on my old my computer that i almost quit the game entirely.

except now, when i open the launcher, go to downloads, select all, install, i get the window sims window like im about to get the sims3pack installer window. only nothing happens. a new tab opens in the dock. but when you look, there's no window there. nothing happens. and when i go back to my downloads folder, the sims 3 packs have duplicated. i don't get any error popups and none of the packs have a warning sign next to to them in the launcher.

i've removed all my caches, emptied out the downloads folder, checked for new patches, and checked to make sure none of the packs im trying to install are corrupted. i can't, for the life of me, figure out what is happening. please help!

How many files are you trying to install at the same time? From your screenshots, it looks like quite a lot. From the CC Install Instructions: "Do NOT install hundreds of files in one go, do small batches that does not exceed 200MB. Launcher cannot handle too big a queue." I would suggest trying to install it in smaller batches (I usually do 5 items) to see if that works.

It was about 30- good point. I had forgotten to try that.
I just took them out and tried to do it in a batch and five and had the same problem. Another "window" opened and nothing installed

here's play by play screenshots of what happens when i select them and click install, if it helps
http://imgur.com/uVSD6Ov looks like its going to open up the installer window- there are now 3 windows of sims open
http://imgur.com/IuUtv0p the window disappears and the launcher looks like it might be doing something!
http://imgur.com/TlYsyoM nothing is installed and the mystery window stays

You should also move all the Sims3Packs that have been installed elsewhere. Into an Archive folder or something. So the Launcher don't need to read those files and twiddle its thumb while doing so...

How many windows did Launcher open?
It is designed to launch a 2nd window and the game (in the background), when it is installing Sim3Packs. The 2nd window did not pop into the foreground? If you click its icon on the Dock (the 2nd one), does it come up? If you minimize all other windows, do you see it?

And what sort of Sims3Packs are these, that you're trying to install? Lots, Worlds, Sims, Sets? From where?
If Launcher can no longer install any Sim3Packs of any type from any site, it means the DCCache folder is messed up. And you need a Do-over. Game_Help:GCCTSU3_Redo/DCCachewiki

I've done that now, they're just in a folder on my desktop currently.
It opens 2 extra windows, then one closes and I'm left with the ghost window. The third one pops into the foreground and then closes. Nothing comes up when i click the second one, and when I minimize the other ones, there's nothing there. It seems to think there is, though. http://imgur.com/w6OxkZ4
I'm trying to install a clothing set and some buy mode objects from AweSims. All things I've downloaded before, i just got a new computer and am starting over. I never had any problems with them before. I will try the DCCache setup and report back, thank you!

This is a new computer with newly installed Sims 3? Is it patched? What version is Launcher reporting? Does it match the plist? Game_Help:TS3_Patching_Find_Gameversion#info.plistwiki
Is the system supported for Sims 3? Post your system specs and your OSX version:
About This Mac (top left corner of your screen) > More Info, and then copy + paste what it says there in Hardware Overview and Graphics.

And post info like the following example:
Quote:
Macbook Pro - 13 inch Mid 2009
Processor 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
Graphics - NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 MB
OSX: Mountain Lion 10.x.x
Sims 3 gameversion: 1.xx.xx

You may also want to try if the Download Dashboard (from within the game, under the Options menu) give you a better outcome.

I got it in October- I've just been too busy to play since then, so I'm just now getting around to putting it on. I re-installed everything maybe 2 weeks ago but didn't play until last weekend.
I have it patched to 1.67 and my .plist matches. I don't know if it makes a difference but I've purchased and installed my game through Origin

13-inch mid-2012
2.9GHz Intel Core i7
8GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Intel HD Graphics 4000
OSX Mavericks 10.9.3
Sims 3 1.67.2.024017

I posted some screenshots of how much space I have left etc. in the first post as well.

I'm currently working through the instructions you linked, and I'm up to launching my game in step 3- except I can no longer get beyond this screen. My installed content is all present in the launcher, I made a backup, cleared the cache files, etc.

ETA: since my game was at least working before i tried to fix this problem, if you could maybe just help me figure out how to fix this new issue instead of installing the sims3packs, i'd appreciate that help SO SO much!
