Hi there. I just recently started playing TS2, because TS3 doesn't work on my computer anymore. Body shop won't open on my computer- it doesn't even try. My mouse spins for a second, then... nothing. I've tried to FAQ, googled it several dozen times, nada. Everything just says delete cigen, but I don't have one of those files. What should I do? Is there a download somewhere online where I could get Bodyshop? Thanks. |

A download of Bodyshop would not be the full product and probably wouldn't do half of what you want. The files you keep seeing mentioned to delete should be in My Documents/Ea Games/The Sims 2. In that folder should be all your games folders (Cameras, Downloads, SavedSims, Projects and more), and two to four other files, with names like Accessory.cache, Groups.cache and cigen.package and they're perfectly safe to delete. Heck, I have to delete them every. Single. Time. I add new CC to my game otherwise it just does nothing, same as yours. |

Did you try removing the downloads folder to see if something in there is doing it? If that is the case you'd need to replace a chunk of downloads to the now empty downloads folder until you narow down which file is causing the problem. Same thing happened to me not long ago and this was the procedure that worked. Adding new CC is never a problem with bodyshop for me and I have no idea what those files you are refering to are nor have I ever deleted them. I've recently added 4g of new CC too. I'm constantly using bodyshop to make new sims at the moment too as I have a relatively new hood. |

I have like 10 pieces of custom content, because I -suck- like that. I know where cigen should be, but it's not there, and I took out all my CC, and also deleted those files, still not a thing. I'll try again. thanks for the quick response btw ^-^ |

Trying removing everything in your sim2 folder. Start the game. The folders will revert to original state. You can then copy the neighbourhoods folder back. I don't suppose you'd have anything else that would need putting back in. Do you have music in the music folder? Saved Sims in bodyshop? Be careful moving the neighbourhoods folder. Put it all in safe place. Right click the folder and select "copy" instead of moving it manually. Then paste over the new neighbourhoods folder. |

First, make sure none of the newly-generated neighborhoods have the same neighborhood number as the one being restored. Letting a backup N001 try to overwrite a fresh N001, for instance, would be a bad idea. |

I'm gonna do this now, don't care about the neighbourhoods folder tho, they were pretty ugly simmies anyway. ^u^ And to clarify- Body shop has NEVER worked for me. |

If a file exists in both the backup and save game, then the file will be (correctly) overwritten. However, some files may exist in the save game but not in the backup. These extraneous files should be removed, but copying will not remove them. Therefore, you should always delete an entire neighborhood before copying a matching neighborhood from your backup into your save game folder. |

I see. I've only ever done this by moving custom hoods so there is maxis hood folder with the same name. I should delete maxis folders actually. They are just taking up space. |

Don't know if it's true, but I've heard it's best to delete unwanted premade 'hoods from within the game - not just by deleting the neighborhoods folders. Regardless, it's not a bad idea, if you're going to do away with the premade 'hoods, to create new empty folders for N001, N002, and N003. Keeping those dummy folders in Neighborhoods will prevent the game from using those numbers when you create custom 'hoods, which could be a hassle if you ever decided to put any of those original premade 'hoods back in. |

I didn't know you could delete them ingame. The delete button is rather inconspicuous. I'll make the empty folders too. Thanks for the tip. |
