My fault again. I'm rubbish :-( I did them on Tuesday and was certain I'd sent them to Reya - to the extent I've even been checking this thread waiting for her to post them - but it turns out I didn't send them.... I think I'm going mad(der)! I just need to put dinner on then I'll send them to her :-)

You aren't the only one losing her mind, Laura so no worries. : ) Once I get those scores in I just have to finish plugging them into my chart, make 'em pretty and post 'em so they should be up before tonight.

I do like the layout of this room, but it’s an awfully long walk from the bed to the toilet for those middle-of-the-night “I need to pee” moments! The colour scheme is lovely, I wouldn’t change a thing. Everything is nicely coordinated and the bathroom and bedroom work well together. The bathroom itself is nice. I like the shape and the feature wall behind the bath/shower and it looks very functional and spacious.
I like how you managed to create such a lovely layout inside a hexagonal room, I thought it was impossible, but you nailed it. The colour scheme is great - the green works well for a bedroom and the wood/brick combinations are well thought through. The ceiling colour could be closer to the general colour scheme, but it's a small thing. In general it's one of my favorite entries this round.
Layout is nice. I especially like the floors and wall coverings. Very good!

I’m not keen on the layout of this room – what’s the point of the bit through the archway? Seems like a lot of wasted space to me. The colour scheme is fairly coordinated but a little bland for my taste. A bright accent colour or two would’ve really cheered it up, though I can see that it would be quite a relaxing room and I love the seaside/beach/boating theme that you’ve done with the colours and the deco. The bathroom has all the required items but it’s rather cramped for a master en-suite, especially as you had all that extra space you could’ve used, so that’s a pity. You were also missing a photo – the minimum was five in-game shots for this round.
An interesting choice of wallpaper. It makes the room literally look like a "house inside the house" and I find it very original. The layout is good, but the empty entrance space looks a little off. I would love to see some furniture there, it would look like a part of the room then. The colour scheme is good, I like the brick pattern you used.
Colors are very nice. I like everything here except that empty space, you should put something there.

I quite like the layout of this room but having all those walled in gaps seems like a bit of a cop out to me! It’s a shame that you didn’t manage to make use of all those spaces. The colour scheme is coordinated but a bit dull – some brighter accents would’ve helped. I like the layout and the colour scheme in the bathroom though, it looks like a nice and functional room.
I'm not very fond of those little unusable spaces around the bathroom, but the layout in general looks good. Your choice of furniture placement makes the room look bigger, perhaps even a little too big. I would love to see some more decorations in there, some spots look a little empty. The colour scheme is good.
You have too much empty spaces here. Colors and patterns are very random. You should use CAS more.

I don’t like this layout at all, I’m afraid. Having a separate seating area was a good idea in theory but having the bathroom in the middle of the room makes everything look cramped. The colour scheme is a bit overpowering with so much red – perhaps it would’ve worked better with red accents rather than everything being red. The patterned red wallpaper is definitely too much. The bathroom is small and because it’s in the middle of the room it has no windows, which wouldn’t be very nice in real life, but it has all the required items.
Very interesting layout. I like the idea of the bathroom being in the middle, but the actual bedroom could use some more planning. The bed separating the room looks quite unpractical, one tile of free space between the bed and bathroom wall would be a nice addition. I would also add some separations around the bed area, so it wouldn't get lost around in the circle. The colour scheme is quite dark and dark colours generally don't work well for bedrooms (especially dark red). I like the bathroom colours though.
This is a nice idea. I like colors of the bathroom, but colors and paterns of the bedroom are too dark and there is too much of red color.

The layout is OK – I like the separate seating area but it’s a really long walk from the bed to the bathroom! There are also very few windows, so I think it would be a bit dark in there, and I’m not sure about having a glass door leading to the rest of the house: that means the room lacks privacy. The colour scheme is quite nice – very peaceful and relaxing, which is good for a bedroom. The bathroom turned out well, I like the layout (apart from the position of the door) and the colour scheme works fairly well too.
Very clever idea to divide the bedroom area. The layout could use some work, but I could see it working in real life. The bathroom door could lead straight into the bed area, that would add some more realism to the room. The colour scheme is quite bland, but it doesn't clash with anything and fits the bedroom style well. Some places look empty, few decorations or pieces of furniture would fix that.
The placement of a shower is weird, you should move it to the wall. Color scheme is too simple. There is too much light blue color.

I like the layout of this room – it’s simple and practical and I bet it would be nice to curl up in bed and watch the flames in the fireplace! One side of the bed has quite a long walk to the bathroom though. I like the colour scheme, with the exception of the floor, which doesn’t work for me. It’s too light and too grey – something in a darker brown wood may have worked better. The bathroom is OK layoutwise and has all the required items but again I don’t like the floor – tiles would be more practical here, and it could do with a bathmat!
The colour scheme looked a bit weird for me at first, but the more I looked at it - the more I liked it. I never thought that pink could work so well with brown and yellow tones in one room, but you somehow managed to mix them together just fine, nice work. I would love to see more lights in the bedroom area or a little lighter colours. I love your choice of furniture and decorations. The bathroom area could use some more furniture, right now it looks very empty.
I like the layout. I dont think that colors on the wall covering going well together. That old book by the bed look off.

I love the layout! It looks very practical and functional as well as being cosy and nice – just what I’d want in a master bedroom. The Chinese theme/colour scheme works well but I think a plain bedspread would’ve worked better – it combined with those chairs is a bit much and I prefer the chairs. And talking about too much – that bathroom hurt my brain! I’d say that the floor and the walls both need to be toned down a lot. I certainly can’t imagine having a relaxing bath in there! With a simpler floor and walls it would be lovely though, I like the layout and the use of the screen/divider thing.
The layout is really nice, but those little empty wall bits don't make the best use of the space. The theme looks well executed and the choice of furniture works well for it. I would place the night tables closer to the wall, but that's just a little thing. The colour scheme of the bedroom looks awesome, but the wallpaper in the bathroom area is very bright and clashes with the rest of the colours.
I really like the bedroom. Everything is really nice there. bathroom look messy. You have too much of patterns and color there.

I quite like the layout, though the two armchairs look a bit out of place in the middle of the room like that. The colour scheme is nice but a little dark – cream walls might’ve worked better, and more windows would’ve helped too. I do like the idea of having the bathroom divided into separate rooms but having the toilet right at the end, through the sinks room and the bath/shower room seems rather unpractical to me. I like the colour scheme in there though, and you have all the required bathroom items. As you realised, you only have one window in the bedroom though, so I docked a point for that.
I love the layout complexion you made for the bathroom. I'm not sure how practical it would be in terms of navigating to the toilet through all those doors (especially in real life). The colour scheme is nice, I love how your colours mix well together. I would use a little lighter colour for the bedroom wallpaper though.
Layout is nice. Bathroom is beautiful. Furniture in the bedroom is nice, but color of the walls and floors are too dark.

I like the layout – it looks nice and also practical and I can’t see anything I would change. The colour scheme is lovely – I am very pleased to see the green, I think it works well, especially with the pink accents. I’m not keen on the bedspread though. The bathroom is also nice – sensible layout, it has all the required items and again I like the green. It also goes very well with the bedroom, which is nice.
I like how your layout is simple and well thought through, but it looks a little too symmetric for my eyes. Your choice of furnishings makes the room look very cozy and classic. The green and brown mix well together, but the green could be a little more neutral for the wallpaper. Besides that the room looks great.
Your room looks too symmetrical. Striped wall is too much to use it in whole room. Patterns are very random.

I would like to have this room as my own bedroom! I like the layout, but there is an awful lot of empty space. Using the divider to screen off the desk area was a good idea though perhaps a dressing table would’ve made more sense than a desk? I like the colour scheme, with the exception of the flooring – it’s quite bland, and as a lot of it is visible it doesn’t look as nice as it could. I love the bathroom – practical layout, lovely colour scheme and all the required items are there. The shape’s a bit odd but it works pretty well.
I like how simple and cozy your room looks. The layout makes it look quite big and a little empty, but it would work wonders in terms of Sims navigating in it. The bathroom looks quite small in comparison, I would love to see it a little bigger. The colour scheme is well executed as always and I love how the colour of the curtains in the bedroom area matches the bathroom wallpaper. Everything looks well composed together.
Beautiful as always. I like everything here. Patterns and colors are beautiful. Maybe the wooden counters are not fit very well in the gray bathroom but they are match with bedroom furniture. Great job!

The layout is OK – simple but functional. You had a bit of money left over, so it’s a shame to see so much empty space. Or perhaps a more expensive bed and sofa would’ve looked nice – these ones look a bit cheap for a master bedroom. The colour scheme is quite nice, but the bedspread and the curtain thing over the bed look a bit out of place to me colourwise. I’m also not keen on the walls – specifically the top border. I quite like the bathroom – the layout is simple but practical but the colour scheme is a bit bland and dark – you did use a little bit of light blue in there but more would’ve definitely helped.
The room looks very simple and minimalistic, I like how you incorporated cheaper furniture in it. The layout is good, but I'm not a fan of that empty corner behind the bathtub. The colour scheme is good, but I would stick with one tone of green instead of mixing forest green and azure green. The bathroom looks great, but it could use some more lighting in it.
Patterns and colors are very random. You have modern side tables and not so modern tv table and bed. That is not going very well together.

I like the layout of this room – it looks very practical but also nice and you’ve really made the most of the space. I like the colour scheme, apart from the flooring, which is just too beige for me! A darker brown or maybe even a dark red would’ve been preferable. I like the Chinese theme, it works well, and the feature wall behind the bed is cool. The bathroom is nice – the colour scheme works well with the bedroom, it has all the required items and I like the way the toilet is in a separate little room.
I love how complex your layout is, it makes good use of the hexagonal shape of the room. The attention to detail surprises me; you are the only contestant who placed tiles around the fireplace which adds a lot more realism to the room. I'm not sure about the placing of the bathtub so close to the shower, I think some Sims could get stuck between them. The choice of colours is nice.
Layout is very nice. I like the floors. I love Chinese, but when I see layout I expected something more and think this room would look better with no chinese furniture.

I quite like the layout but it’s a shame that you blocked off those two corner bits instead of incorporating them into the room. I like the green and yellow accents but other than that the colour scheme is a bit bland – too much beige for my liking. The brick walls look odd to me too. The bathroom has a nice layout but again I don’t like the colour scheme. It also seems a bit small. It does have all the required items though. You are missing an in-game photo – the minimum for this round was 5 – so I docked a point for that.
I like the idea of the room, it's well executed and looks gorgeous. The bedroom area looks quite big and empty in the middle, but your furniture and decorations make the best use of the layout. I don't like the empty wall bits near the bathroom though. The colour scheme is very good, I like the brick and stone patterns for the walls.
I see what you are trying to do here, travelers bedroom, but I think this room is too depressive, too much of brown color. I dont like tiles in the bedroom.

I quite like some aspects of the layout, but there’s a lot of empty space and you blocked off quite a big corner instead of incorporating it into the room. I like the little TV corner but those chairs don’t look very comfortable to me! As you have money left over it’s a shame you didn’t use it on better chairs and more stuff to fill the room. I like the colour scheme – it’s simple and peaceful and I like the use of plants. The floor is a bit boring though – a nice dark blue carpet would’ve worked better, I think. The layout of the bathroom is quite nice, but there’s a wasted corner here too. The colour scheme is pretty and it has all the required items.
The room looks extremely good, but the layout could use some more planning. The empty unusable corner could make a small and nice wardrobe. I like the big windows, but I think they are unpractical for the bedroom, at least not without the curtains of some sort. The colour scheme is great, I love blue bedrooms in real life. The furniture and decorations are wonderfully placed and well CAST'ed.
Bathroom is nice. I dont like placement of the dresser. I would use wall flowers outdoors, it is not flowers for bedroom. Color of the blue wall is nice. You should use that empty space in the bedroom. I dont like how you just leave it empty.

Thanks, Reya, for a fun contest! I'm very happy with my round 5 score And I'm ok with my overall too. This last room was my favorite. I really liked how it turned out. Glad the judges did too.
Side note: (not a complaint, just an observation, lol) The bathroom is still a heck of a lot closer than down the hall

Thanks, judges, and ReyaD, for a great contest. I had a lot of fun, and I know it was a lot of work for you.
As for the last room, I ran out of money and more importantly TIME, so that's why there was that weird empty entry space.
Congrats to Buckley and daluved, and to everyone else who made it all the way to the end! Whew!

Yay! I didn't come last. lol
The reason I had to use so many cheap base-game items in this last round was because I still didn't have my laptop with everything installed (I've finally got it back now) so I didn't have much to choose from.
Ah well, it was a fun contest and one that I would gladly partake in again thanks to ReyaD's excellent organisation and interesting challenges, and the wonderful scoring and feedback from the judges.

@daluved1- I'm not sure if this thread is still active, but you post here to get a ribbon. I'm going to try it anyway.

I *love* your patterns. Some of my all time favorites. And your rugs. And paintings. And that church you made. :lovestruc Okay, I'm going to stop gushing now.
Thank you! It's from Showtime.

Wow! Congrats Buckly, Dal, and sionelle! That's so awesome!
Reya, awesome contest! Sucks that I couldn't contribute to the final round (which killed me) but I had so much fun during all of the other rounds! I'd love to see another contest from you one day! Congrats on leading a successful contest! /me throws confetti in the air

The whole brown/beige thing was based off of homes and such in Egypt. Most of the ones there are pretty colorless. I tend to make my bases and "huts" for those worlds match.
What photo was I missing exactly? I have all of the ones listed as required... and I met the minimum of 5 required pictures... :c
Oh well. I wasn't entering to win anyways. Congrats to the winners! ^^ And congrats to Reya for hosting such a fun contest.
I think the only thing I didn't like was the waiting for scores. I'd submit my entry a few days early and then obsessively check to see if somehow the scores were posted early. XD Bah.

Well done everybody! I've thoroughly enjoyed judging this contest and it certainly seems like you've all enjoyed entering it too! Many many thanks to Reya for hosting - I hope to see you hosting another contest at some point in the future! :-D
You had to have a minimum of 5 in-game pictures, not including the overhead/budget picture, and you only had 4 :-)

My bad. Somehow I forgot that the overhead one didn't count towards the 5. ^^;

Lasira: Well, I can honestly say I tried the best I could. At least we ended up finishing in he middle of the pack and not the last 5.
Nothing wrong with that in itself but it was a personal goal I set for myself. Now I just need to keep using CAST as much as I can in my future endeavors and improve my skill further. I honestly prior to this point never really focused that hard on CASTing and now I find myself spending far more time on it. I will say this contest has made me far more CAST conscious.
Before this I was always hung up over room and item placement. Seems I will now be incorporating design and color scheme more into my focus as well.
Thanks ReyaD for this opportunity to learn from some of the sites greatest designing minds and for the judges for their time and attention to honest evaluation and detailed precision. Perhaps one day I will rise to something pro-level and make a career out of it.
Stay frosty!

You guys should have seen the first house I ever built. I used it for my legacy family and I just... I look back at those chapters and cringe every time I see pictures of it. It's contests like this that helped me get from that to my MTS uploads, and I'm glad at least some of you took something from this contest. All of you guys are amazing, and I hope I see a few uploads on here from you guys soon.
And to those who were wondering, my game is officially back up and running as of last night. : )

Don't turn into me! I spend hours CASTing one room in a house. I always have, since the game came out. It was the feature I was most excited about, lol.

I loved watching this contest! I really wanted to play, but I noticed it a little too late. I loved seeing all the rooms people made and used them as inspiration to work harder on my houses I build for my houses. I even gave the last room a try as a personal challenge, and that just gave me even more respect for everyones' hard work.
Congrats to the winners and great job everyone! :D

That last room was a bitch. Wanna know a secret? I play tested every room myself before the contest and rounded up from my final cost to make the round budget. I couldn't actually finish testing round 5 because I got annoyed with it, so I wasn't quite sure if it was possible.
Very happy is was. : ) I had the utmost confidence in all of you.
(But this is a lie of course, I totally tested all five rooms... >_>)
