This user has the following games installed:

Sims 3, World Adventures, Ambitions, Late Night, Generations, Pets, Showtime, Supernatural, Seasons, University Life, Island Paradise, Into the Future
Default Role Sims disappear over time
I've encountered a bizarre phenomenon over long term game play. When my role sims (barristas, concession stands, consigment specialists etc.) grow old and are removed from the role, the game often forgets to assign a new one. It's not a 100% fail rate which is all the more puzzling! I can solve it, sometimes, with Nraas Register, by assigning someone else to the role -- but it doesn't always work. Sometimes, the register in question just remains indefinitely unmanned.

Any suggestions?

On City Hall or an in-game computer, do you have NRaas > Register > Allow Immigration set to True?

I do!

What confuses me so much is that it's not a 100% rate. If they ALL went missing or ALL could easily be replaced with Register, that'd make a lot more sense. Just to add to the confusion, it's a recent development while I haven't added any CC or mods to my collection in months.

I started to notice this in a game that had been running for some time. In part because of this issue I decided to start a new one -- and sure enough, once we're about to the point where the first generation of role sims starts to retire, the issue is cropping up again.

Hmm. I've been running the same game for well over five years now. Yeah, aging up Role Sims continue to be problematic here and there, but for me not to the extent described. Where I see the most trouble is where they are expected to work at their stations 24/7 or almost that as these sims have to go off-screen to age-up in private and the push to do that at the same time as the push to continue working can backfire.

It's admittedly not a very technical solution, but have you tried going into some of the commercial lots and replacing the role giving objects with new ones?

Worth a shot, I'll try that.

If it doesn't work, oh well. It's not a game killing problem, just an annoying little thing.
