Theme Seasons and Celebrations
Ok time for a new theme! And not only a new theme, but a special one! A tri-monthly one.
A tri-monthly one? I can hear the questions now, so now for a bit of explanation First of all, we started our themes in an odd numbered month, and that would mean that we would cross years with a theme if we continued with the bi-monthly theme. Secondly, the last few months of the year tend to be very busy ones for people, so we thought we would give more time to complete all those awesome projects during the holiday season
So now it is time for the great unveiling!
Seasons and Celebrations! Or maybe it is Seasons, Holidays and Celebrations! Anyway either way, the gist of the idea is that the theme includes any and all things pertaining to seasonal activities, holidays and celebrations. Christmas? Yes! A Fall/Autumnal themed lot with apple bobbing and roller skating? No problem! Spooky Halloween decorations? Sure thing! How about a Summer beach party? Ok sure. Birthday party for the twins, who are about to become teenagers? Make them some cakes! Wedding coming up? How about a new wedding arch? Baby on the way? Throw a baby shower style party, complete with a cake and baby items. Easter egg hunt? Sure thing!
This includes things for seasonal activities, such as the apple bobbing, snow sledding, spring picnics, skiing on slopes in Winter, and anything else your minds can come up with.
Just remember to include the hashtag #themeSHC in your uploads to get credit for that brand new sticker!
Now for the list of all of our lovely creators who contributed to the Maternity and Beyond theme, we thank you
If for some reason you got missed or feel like you should have been included, please contact us

Feel free, as long as you can tie strong sim history to it, and make it a true celebration. You have to MARKET it to make it believable....

Break down the barriers and unleash the potential of existing holidays, and exploring completely made up BS holidays, traditions and customs too! Perhaps it's customary to give a burnt muffin out on All Crumplebottoms' Eve? Maybe Llama-dan has some unique knitting custom, or Gnome Kippur, everyone gathers for a certain meal? Who could forget Flamingo Day! Or Malcolm Landgraab I /Founders Day? There's a bajillion unexplored Sim holidays, waiting in the recesses of the fantastic (and sometimes warped) minds of the members and staff! Go for Broke! Shoot for the Stars!! And most of all, gerbitz! Gerbitz! GOOOOOOOOO GERBITZ!! -grinEvilly >=) |
Sure. To add to what gdayars said, the holiday/celebration should be "meaningful." For example, I shouldn't simply take my avatar, frame it as a painting recolor, and declare it "MSD Day" in New Strangetown. Instead, perhaps I would make a party set for the town square: the "Festival of Flamingos" where everyone gathers in the New Strangetown town square to honor the strange lawn ornaments' annual migration across the desert. (It was on THIS very spot our town's founding-father is said to have spotted the mythical golden, shiny flamingo!).
I don't mind if you call me "MSD" or something for short.

Perhaps someday I'll have leisure time back...

I wonder why themes are a lot more popular among Sims 2 creators

I am looking forward to see some great creations, I am especially fond of festivities based content, they break the monotony of everyday sim life.

I think a theme sparks creativity and new ideas, and the limited time slot creates urgency. Otherwise, there are items I want to create but they all languish.

Loved all your ideas! I am surprised at the amount of TS2 creations though! WOW. I didn't realize how popular it still is! As an avid Simmer, I prefer TS3 myself, so yes.. pleasantly surprised. I'm actually thinking about cleaning out my downloads folder from TS2 (it's been the same for literally like 10 years) and updating it.. and maybe playing a bit.

So, I have done a few (*wink*) things for Seasons and Celebrations, and they are best showcased on a lot, which I have ready to go. Should I upload everything in one upload, including the lot, and if so, how do I categorize it?

I think you would want the items in one file for people that don't want the lot and the items on the lot in a second file. Upload it in the section that the cc fits. This was done before with items like playground equipment. Or simply show off your cc on a lot in some pictures. A lot is only really needed when placing/using the cc items as is might be difficult. There is Creator Issues if you want a private place to give more details, only you and staff can view those posts.

For this contest, I wanted to keep everything together, instead of having 10 different uploads, because there will be multiple sections. The lot is part of my entry, too, so I'm not sure what to do. I will go ever to Creator Issues, as you suggested, and see what I can do.
Thanks!

On the theme stuff? as long as it is in queue by midnight um... well by whatever time it is new years for everyone. It can be CR'ed for instance, and still count even after then, as long as it first entered queue before the end of the theme, and in this case, the year
