I worked in a small store, a man selling vegetables. I packed tomatoes for a couple of weeks. I cleaned tables at a restaurant, and I worked at a giftstore, selling porcelainsculptures and scented candles....Then I was a nanny for a year, and then I went back to school.

I worked at a sandwich shop for two weeks before they discovered (I don't know why they "discovered" this, it's not like I didn't tell them) that I was 15 and was thus, not legal to work. Silly. I got paid out of the cash register and walked home terrified to tell my parents I got fired. xD

My first job was as a sales assistant in a clothing store. It was a horrible job! Do you know what gross stuff people do in fitting rooms? A woman once urinated there - and there was this pervert who would come in regularly, drop his pants...and err... pleasure himself!

I've never been married, but I tell people I'm divorced so they won't think something is wrong with me.

We have this thing in my country where high school students work for a day (anywhere they choose) and then donate the income to charity. So my first job was when I was 14 and worked for a day at a department store that sells female clothing. Half of the day I spent wiping their mirrors. The other half I spent in a storage room filled with hangers from floor to ceiling. They told me to sort them out. It was an unbeliavable sight. The next year I worked for the same chain but the store was located at a different mall. The first half of the day I spent once again cleaning mirrors, which was ok, but I nearly screamed out loud when they directed me to a storage room and opened the door: the room was filled with hangers from floor to ceiling and they told me to sort them out. What is wrong with that chain? They clearly have no instructions what to do with their hangers...

My first real job was cleaning barns and sheering coats at an llama farm in southern Ohio. It was a.... erm... learning experience. The job lasted three summers, though. Now I'm a sales associate at Hot Topic. I've come a long way. :P

My first job is the job I'm in now. I generate renewal quotes at an insurance company that mainly specialises in Motorbikes(some cars aswell, but mainly bikes), well, that's my main job, I do the odd admin task aswell.

It's alright, it gets a bit borin, but it's not all bad at all. I hate being paid monthy though, weekly please.

My first job (which I still have..) is working for my parent's spa and pool repair business. I basicily just answer phones, take messages and copy out invoices. I haven't been trained all the way yet so I don't work too much with customers, but I will soon. I'd really like to work at Movie Gallery but you have to be eighteen because they rent adult videos.

EDIT: Although I did waitress for a little while when I was fourteen. Hated it too. By the end of the day I was tired, sore, smelled like a french fry and had been stiffed of a tip by numerous people even though I was nice to them and got them anything they asked for. :eviltongu

My first (summer) job was supposed to be tailors assistants position at sewing factory when I was 16. God it was horrible.. Probably the worst job I ever had. 8 hours on a feet, without any breaks to eat or just rest, cutting damn thread ends. They even managed to shift the blame of broking something on me so I didn't get paid for that only day I worked there and the old fat sweaty lady didn't let me go home after my shift because "I haven't worked enough" to compensate the thing I supposedly broke so I sneaked off the building through the bathroom window..

My first job was about 2 months ago. I worked at an amusment park. They ripped me off of money, and they ripped me off of hours, so I quit.

People keep telling me to take them to court. But it's really not worth all the effort.

I'm just going to get a job at Dunkin Donuts or something, until I can get a better one.

My first job was as a corn detasseler at a seed and popcorn farm. I was 13. We had to walk the rows of corn and pull out the tassles (you know when you eat corn on the cob...those little hairy things at the top that get stuck in your teeth if they are left on...). Yeah, those, lol. It helped prevent cross-pollination or some such thing. It sounds bad but really it wasn't. I got to be outside, got exercise and got a great tan

I was 16 and it was a grocery store as a cashier. I hated the job more than anything and the money really wasn't worth it. It was only a summer job though and as soon as Sept came around, I quit .
They were jerks who kept 'forgetting' to give me my breaks and all and would try to talk me into staying longer than I should, blah, glad it's over .

i worked at wal-mart, first as a cashier, then as a sales associate. they treat you like shit and the pay was awful ($6.25/hr). if they could chain you to the register with a bucket for a toilet, they'd do it. i talked to an 8 month pregnant cashier who had to sneak a stool behind her register so she could sit down! of course this was against company policy, so i hoped nobody found out.

My first job was when I was 14. I worked in my co-op...beautifying the neighbourhood. We picked weeds...we swept the cobblestone in the backyards...if we were lucky, we got to paint the fence. What sucked was that for 4 weeks of work...we only got $100. Never signed up for that again.

My very first job was at a small pizza restaurant taking orders and ringing out customers... then I found that the owner didn't pay trainees, needless to say I quit after that!

My first job, I busted my butt as a PMO (Packagine Machine Operator) in a plant. Dole Fresh Vegetables to be honest. Yeah, I bagged salad. Whoot whoot!!! Never again! Although the pay was good. 14$ an hour at 18 wasn't bad at all.

Romyhorse: Yes, I have a certain relaxed way of writing ^.^. But really, I can honestly say I'm mature for my age.

I'm now working for my parents in their dental office. I find that that requires a lot more maturity, especially when you have a boss that can irritate the crap out of you. On top of that, I babysit a lot. I take care of a one year old who can cry at the top of his lungs for an hour or more because he misses his mom and wants me to fret over him. And when it comes to sexual novels, they could restrain themselves from giving me that assignment. I'm an avid reader, I can read up to 4 books a week, and I could provide much better service than some of the people I've had help me in Borders. But I've raised up some money so I can do things with my friends on the weekends, so I'm happy. Hm, I wish there was a children's/young adult book store that I could work at near the offices of my parents so I could get a ride to and from work. Too bad the nearest one is inconvenient.
