The problem with fences is that they don't do recolours. You'd have to make each fence as a standalone item. Not that it's a problem but you'd end up with a very crowded fence category in your catalogue if you wanted a lot of walls. And, of course, you can't paint them so it would mean rebuilding if you changed the wall covering. Being able to paint fences would be awesome but you can't. It would be relatively easy to do new colours though since you wouldn't be changing the mesh - just a case of slapping on a new texture. The other thing with fences is I think you can reuse existing GUIDs - IIRC. I made a pile of colours for the cover up slope fence mesh to hide holes in the terrain at one time. Quick to do once you get the rhythm.

I don't think I'd need that many since I'd really only be using this for building urban environments. The idea would be to use the fencing (in whatever colour) to fill the gap between the lots that you see in lot view. It's okay if it's different (since most cities are a patchwork anyway) but it saves me having to download the lot adjuster - particularly if I can get these walls in brick and concrete finishes. #Ace

Edited to include: I'd build the entirety of my building first - exactly as if I was going to use the lot adjuster, and then slap these on the sides to fill up that gap. I'm gonna test this this week, but I think it'd work. I'd only need to be able to put floor tiles for a roof on top (which may or may not be possible...)

It's certainly handy to have wall height fencing but attached garages are better using wall.

WizTree is a free program that shows what's using up all your hard drive space. I've found it has another use:

In this thread at GOS TFW has made two working kiddie wading pools, converted from S4, cloned from Rebecah's and recolored:

They are nice but twofingerswhiskey is known for very high poly stuff, so I am going to have to pass.

I found that the packages are huge-and so I used the compressorizer on them. Average size-1325-reduced down to 200. Saved over 2 mgb of space that way. But another thing is that they're not autonomous, and the toddlers aren't automatically attracted to them.

The high-poly stuff from 2FW is mostly conversions from TS3/4 creators (often Emyssims, who has extremely high poly items). The pools are from TS4 Seasons, which mostly has similar polycounts to TS2, so I'd think they're fairly safe to use.

As for the file size, it's because they most likely use 1024x1024 sized maps (usually end up roughly 1 MB in size) and the files aren't compressed. Compressing the files should get them down to around 200-500 kb, depending on the texture.
Me? Sarcastic? Never.

I think checking poly counts on an object is more logical than assuming they are too high. The cheap one is only 674, and the expensive one is 1874. Both quite low considering they take up 4 tiles physically in game.

Tots gain Body skill from playing in those kiddie pools. If you leave one in there long enough, you could end up with a super athlete in diapers!

Thanks @HugeLunatic I saw so many high poly TS4 to 2 conversations on their blog that I gave up and kind of decided to not download/look at any more of them since then I would want them! Glad to be wrong about this one.

@FranH Thanks, I tend to forget to compress thinking things these days often already are.

Also to whoever disagreed, even if that particular download isn't high poly, that creator has some extremely high poly conversions.

VitaSims downloads. Some of them, just found out some of the pages are unavailable. You have to click on the picture.

Speaking of high polys, Vita Sims has some of the highest in downloads. You do want to be careful with them.

That's good to know. I downloaded a ton of stuff from there for my Moroccan museum but it was only for the Wanderlust contest. I doubt I'll use it in game (at least now I'll be aware of it if I do).

High-poly stuff isn't too bad when you use it sparingly.

By the way, as a reminder-it's not always objects that have high poly counts. You know those beautiful hairs you see? Check those out. They'll shock you with their counts-especially creators like PeggySims..who was notorious for them. And cars-those things take the cake and the spaceship launch.

Maybe the 3t2 conversions (technically not their fault, mind), but there are lots of nice outfits and low-poly items on 2FW's site, too.

TS4 and TS3 creators use a ton more polys than neccessary, either using meshes straight from high-poly mesh sites or jacking up the polycount 5-6 times too many to smooth it out. I found a TS4 object (a cake) I thought might look nice, and decided to open it up and see if it needed some modifications (because I usually don't convert high-poly meshes without giving de-polifying a go first), and wondered why it spent so much time getting extracted (took 10-15 minutes in S4S, most of the time it only takes a few seconds). Then I looked at the polycount. 300.000 polys. For a cake. My jaw almost hit the floor.

While I dislike Pinterest, I found a good one through tumblr with a bunch of stuff I'm gonna download, especially a lot of medical CC :D. A lot of the links lead to moonlightdragon.com so I made an account there to get them.
