Default Guest Sim Keeps Calling the Police?
So, I had one sim marry her butler. He was old, so I used sim modder to turn him into an adult. He moved in and there's been no real problems.

However, whenever I'm playing with another household and he happens to visit, he calls the police to report a burglar over and over again until I ask him to leave. Most recently, he called the exterminator. Could this just be a weird glitch or something more sinister?

Is someone in the active household a former NPC burglar? They don't seem to be able to tell the difference between an NPC burglar on duty and one who has been moved in as part of the family. Maybe this fix will help: http://cyjon.net/node/400

I'm not sure why a butler would call the exterminator other than seeing roaches on the lot. Maybe there are glitched invisible roach tiles around?

Then again, I'm not sure if this is "normal" for visiting butlers; some NPCs who are moved in retain some of their NPC coding and engage in strange behaviors when visiting other households.

I would probably consider doing some testing to check if it's due to a mod. If it is, then a 50-50 might work.

I doubt it's a mod. I think it's an Eaxis problem. My butlers, moved in or not, do the same thing. The only way I've found around it is to take out the landline and give everyone cell phones. I didn't know Cyjon had a fix. Checking it out now.

Thanks.

I can't shed any light on the exterminator, though. I haven't experienced that one.

When the game creates an NPC for 'on the job' the neighbour is given an 'on the job' token before being created, when a sim initializes and begins the Main behaviour if that token exists the sim begins as a service sim type person. But (a Maxis bug) that token is not normally removed. Therefore while at home the butler doesn't re-initialize so he remains a family type sim but whenever he goes somewhere and does re-initialize he will most likely become a service type sim instead of a visitor type sim. Removing the token will fix him unless/until he is used as a real butler again.
Calling an exterminator is normal for an 'on the job' butler if there is any roaches anywhere.
