1. delete your cache files (any .package file can be safely deleted)
2. repair your game. You can do this under origin - the play button has two icons - click the left one and repair your game. This should work. Make sure your game is updated as well. Regardless of whether you have the latest expansion, EA still updated everybody's game.
3. if that doesn't work -
remove your mods, saves, tray, screenshots, custom music folders to your desktop or somewhere safe. Any folder that has custom something (music, screenshots, etc) you want to take out of your Sims 4 folder.
4. Rename your The Sims 4 folder - The Sims 4.old
5. Run your game
6. Exit your game
7. You should now see two folders in your Electronic Arts folder - The Sims 4 and The Sims 4.old
8. Delete the Sims4.old folder - make sure anything you wanted to keep was not still in there.
9. Put back your custom music, your tray files, saves, mods and screenshots.
You should be able to run your game. If you are STILL having an issue, you may need to kiss your existing save files goodbye. Either remove them temporarily to a new folder, or delete them permanently.
