Default Retirement For Sims
Hello everyone hope all is fine, I was told this a very long time ago but forgot how. How exactly do you retire a Sims from working ? Even if he is an Elder or still an Adult who have been working his or her butt off for a long time.
I would like to know the method in doing so, if there is a method or steps you have to do. My main concern is I want my Sims if they retire from their job, be it that they are an elder or adult to get their "PENSION."
So what do you do to make this happen? Is there a Mod ? I can use that will enable retirement so that all Sims can get their Pension. Please share

Elders can retire by phoning work and choosing "retire". They get a pension which I think is related to their final salary. The only one I've actually done it with is Olive Specter in Strangetown. I know of no way for adults to take early retirement; maybe someone has written a mod.

I don't even know of a way to give a pension to an elder created in CAS, except for them to get a job and then retire. I can use the Sim Manipulator to cheat their promotions up to level 3, but not beyond that, even though my Elders can get Adult jobs. Again I think a mod wound be useful if anyone has written one.

You retire by calling work on the phone.

I used the Sim Blender to put Waring Sinclair at rank ten of the Business career. He could of course retire now if he wanted to, but since he doesn't actually want to oh well.

It DOES show up for adults, once they have grandchildren. Then they can get a want to retire, and can call and retire. I never let mine age up to elder, so it takes grandchildren to trigger the want.

Oh, so that's why my older adults with grandkids who have jobs want to retire. Always something new to learn.

I agree with Jo's there is always something to learn, like member gdayars I never let my Adult age up to elder. The only elders I have came with the game in Pleasantview. My custom hood have no elders,
I wish there was a mod that let you let have any Sims retire as long as they have a good work history, because in real life not everyone wait until they are old and grey to retire.
I want my Sims to still be young enough to enjoy their retirement and pension . I guess I will keep on wishing for a Retirement early mod.

I never knew about adults being able to retire once they have grand kids either... Though I only rarely let my Elders retire to begin with so...

So do you guys have your Sims die at the end of the adult stage, or do you just keep them around? Wouldn't that make the neighbourhood rather full?

@Orphalesion That my biggest problem I never let my Adults Sims age up,gee I even have a hard time letting my Child and Teen Sims age up,
And none of my elders I let died, don't ask me why, because I don't know why I play my game that way. lol

My adults will be ageing up, I use a longer ageing mod and after about 70-74 days I am ready. I have backups, so any sim I want to remake back to 2007 I can. Just extract and clone.

Once retired, most of my elders move into my retirement subhood. That means that there are less sims in the main hood, and I visit them less often as well, because they are, well, retired

I figure mine will keep working for some time, it gives them purpose (or so they are less boring to me ) some will look after grandkids, some might travel. I wish we could have days pass on vacation hoods but I guess ageing up the days once they are back home is the next best thing.

The fortune sims don't retire in my hood; they need to keep on earning money to make them happy. Some of the others start small businesses. Some do move in with the kids to look after the grandkids. Some just have a ball

A retirement subhood? ..you have a 'Hood full of elders? Welcome to Dying Town.
I thought of a retirement house(s) apartment like, but a whole 'Hood?
Does it works well?

I think my retirement hood works pretty well! Take into account that I have a HUGE hood with more than 200 families. So while I kept many of the elders alive for a long time, they are now dependent on the elixir of life they have - for there are new elders that need to move to the retirement hood soon. The hood has a library, small retirement homes, a number of small businesses run by retired elders and their own doctor.

Elders are very important in my hood. They are the wise people who teach the younger Sims - either by literally teaching them skills on community lots or by giving them jobs in their small businesses. They also get to take their grandchildren on vacation, hold family reunions (and parties too), contributing to the hood in various ways. Those who can also teach Tai Chi, the vacation dances, and tell the legend to the youth of today.

My Unemployment Center are also run by a collection of elders (they go there to serve meals to the poor, teach them, etc). A death there has quite an impact on the hood, and a funeral is a huge occasion

My elders generally go on working for a while after they age up and then retire when they feel the time is right. Sometimes they then open their own business or start gardening in earnest or get a dog or go mad and seduce every young person they come across. Depends. Randolph Goth went on working till he dropped dead (which he did promptly after getting off the helicopter one evening) but then he would. I don't leave them on their own in a lot - one off-spring usually stays in the family home and starts their own family there. Retirees can be useful in letting the parents go off to work without being accused of child abuse by the game but they don't necessarily have to look after the kid - kids in Little Carping mostly look after themselves and they only do that at the weekend anyway since during the week they go to school. Except for babies maybe but then one or both parents will be at home at that time in their lives anyway. Except for the ones that flee back to work in horror at what they have done in spawning offspring. Anyway, elders usually just stick around till they die and then we have a funeral.

I no longer come over to MTS very often but if you would like to ask me a question then you can find me on tumblr or my own site tflc. TFLC has an archive of all my CC downloads.

I also play with an aging mod and even when Sims age up, I don't consider them old and I certainly don't play them that way. Elders who have an empty nest are able to rekindle their own romances with their spouses by going on dates. They plan overnight weekend excursions in the neighboring city where there is so much to do. They enjoy nights on the town by having dinner at restaurants, going to the Jazz Club, the Casino, shopping, visiting the beach or just going to the movies. Elders can also pursue their hobbies full-time or learn new things. I've added back a vacation neighborhood and one of my Sims just retired from the Military and he bought a small fishing cabin for weekend getaways with his wife. Elders are still alive until the Grim Reaper shows up. Even then it doesn't have to be over; I once had a Sim who defeated the Grim Reaper 5 times!

What I really like about Sims who retire is for those who want to work again they don't lose their pension. They get to have dual incomes which I think is awesome!

I don't have my elder sims retire. They are so boring to me, so they work till they die. Maybe when my current hood finally get some elders, I'll consider it.

When my elders retire (as some in Bellefleur have already done), unless they've rolled the distinct want to retire from a job (they have to be employed!) then I'll let them do that if their retirement income is sufficient for them.

Such as Herb and Coral Oldie. He's a resident at the hospital, and while he comes home exhausted every night, he has no intention of quitting just to stay home and chase his wife around the house. Coral owns her own business, but recently returned to college to get the degree she would have gotten had she not gotten married to Herb.
She and Herb are not that eager to retire because even though they can afford it, they have 2 sons in college who do not seem to be able to take care of themselves-Coral suspects that they're going to be not so empty nesters for a long time..

Ben and Ivy Long are still working, and show no desire to retire, either. Of course they have to see their kids through college, and so they stay around dispensing unnecessary parental warnings to them.

Brandi Broke Gast and her partner, Karen are both retired, but Karen's been on disability for a long time, and Brandi owns her painting gallery-she also enrolled in college hoping to pick up the degree she never got to earn. Her son is in college as well, but he would like for them to move out so he can have parties all the time. That's exactly why Brand & Karen do not want to move...
