Like the title says, I'm looking for a tutorial to make an aspiration reward, complete with chance of failure. I thought it would be neat to make the panaceas and potions from Parsimoneous into aspiration rewards, which on its own, is easy enough to do. But I also want them to tank comfort and energy if used with low aspiration. Can anyone point me to a tutorial telling me how to go about doing that please?

If you've never worked with BHAVs before, I would suggest you start out with Echo's Making Your First Custom BHAV tutorial. This explains motive adjustments and Expressions (i.e. comparing/checking values).

When the Sim first starts the interaction, you will check the Sim's aspiration level. Set the True target path to either the Success or Failure functionality; set the False target path to the other. You might could add another layer with the "[global 0x049F] Random - Chance of X out of Y" BHAV. That is, you could have something like "If my aspiration level if gold, there's a 4 out 10 chance of failure".

I don't mind if you call me "MSD" or something for short.

Thanks. I've flicked through a couple of Echo's tutorials and tried a few things out, it was the checking aspiration level that had me stumped. I'll have a longer read.

ETA: Ugh, I kind of get the general idea, except when it comes to changing values in the operand. Are my options really only 'enter random numbers and hope I find one that does something'?

I'm not exactly sure how to change the Aspiration Level. My guess would be something like [prim 0x0002] Expression (My person data 0x00A0 (Aspiration Score) := Literal 0x0000) to set it to zero. (Of course, you would set it to whatever value you want, but I'm using zero as an example.)

You may find the best way to change operand values is to use the Pop-up Wizard. Next to the operand boxes, you should see four buttons. There is a "cancel" button and (underneath the "cancel" button) a little button with tools crossed, a little button with ", and a button with a "X". Click the little button with the crossed tools.

Hope this picture helps.

Ah, I don't appear to have those buttons. I have WIZ and RAW instead, but WIZ is greyed out. Is that a plugin?

It's possible. Go to Extra > Preferences. Then select Installed Plugins and see what plugins you have installed. I guess what is needed would be the PJSE BHAV Wrapper, but I'm not certain.

Hmm. It says I have that plug-in, but when I click on BHAVs, I have the DMA BHAV editor instead of the PJSE one. I shall have to Goggle around and see why that it.

ETA: Disabled the DMA BHAV plugin and now I have the correct buttons. Thank you.
