Sounds like they like it! Or do they?

Traits are back again? Really? :/

Also 5 ages? that doesn't seem like they added more life stages? Toddlers, kids, teens, adults and elders?

The French tweets:

1/ L'outil créer un sims est vraiment génial possibilité de séparer les cheveux des coiffures.
The tool Create a Sim is really great. Possibility to unbind/detach hair from hairdo/hairstyle.
(I think he means that hats and hair deco are really hair accessories now, and that for any hair style, we can pick up nay hats... This needs additional info though.)

2/ Vous pouvez montrer votre sim joyeux, triste ou pas content dans le cas
You can show your Sims happy, sad or angry in CAS.
(I suspect he means the same as @michellekenobi's tweet : we can customize emotional gestures of Sims in CAS).

Five different ages? Isn't that one down from TS3 - where I believe we had six? Ah, bummer - there goes the hopes of pre-teens and mid-life crisis Adults...
Let's hope they make it up with some pre-set heights *wishful thinking*

Toddlers might not be editable in CAS OR they lumped Young Adults and Adults into one age group (as Issie suggested). YA might come later with University a la Sims 2.

Ok, I'm off to bed :D

-eyetwitch- -eyetwitch- If there's not CASt in the base game, I'm not buying. That's one of the things I hated from Sims 2 -- I could never make anything match! Well, not if I didn't want 50 million items just of colour-changed clothing and furniture.

You just have to use your mouse to enlarge and reduce body parts. Every small piece of your body can be shaped, so every Sim is unique.

This, however, I like the sound of. If they add CASt and I buy the game, I shall be able to create ALL the characters!

CASt should be in the base game. But if they can't manage it on time, it should be part of a patch, not part of an EP that we have to pay for.

I love how they decided to have both traits and aspiration to be implemented to a Sim! Sure Sims could have 5 distinct personalities, but they sure have one major personality that's dominant.

The fact that they seem to be discussing adding CASt is a good thing to me because if they're talking about adding something and the community (we) scream and beg for that feature to be included, our opinions might actually matter. If anyone from EA is reading this (who am I kidding, but anyway): BRING BACK CASt!!! Pretty please?

Ah, so my hunch is confirmed. This explains the solid appearance of the hair. It's going to be somewhat malleable! :D

Edit: I was just thinking...

It's only pre-alpha? I don't know a lot about game development, so I'm not really "qualified" to say this, but shouldn't it be further along than pre-alpha and no longer open to adding/changing lots of things if its projected release date is early 2014 (4.5-7.5 months from now)? I guess this means I shouldn't be surprised if its release date is pushed back by about 4-6 months, similar to what happened with TS3 (and TS2 I think...).

so we are still sticking with trait-only sims? Ugh. I as hoping for a hybrid. sims 3 trait only sims seem repetitive over the top and all the same versus ts2 sims with 0-10 point system. Maybe this traits system will be better. Who knows.
I personally dont want a create a style tool. (GASPs everywhere) I found TS3 style tool to be tedious slow and just not fun to work with. It took way to long to load all the textures, and everything ended up looking flat and ugly since everything had to have uv mapping to work with blurry flat textures and not specific high quality textures catered to whatever it is. I also found it harder to design a house. In TS2 I can pick pieces and work around them and with them and get a nice room from there. But in TS3 I actually have to know what I want and what im doing and where im going, so all my houses ended up being earth tones/white trim and doors/ black enamel furniture. It got boring pretty fast.
The one statement I read somewhere about "this interface is easy to use and is for those who were scared off my the complexity of the deepness of previews controls" or whatever bs it was phrased about CAS has me kind of worried, but then again EA is a company and companies have to cater to the "Everyone" and not the "specifcs" Im seeing it with phones and laptops too now, everything is being marketed "for everyone" and not just "you people over there"
All in all im still as if not slightly more excited, and the inclusion of 3 possible cities? Yes please.

There being no CASt is my dealbreaker. I flat out WILL NOT BUY the game, no exceptions, if there is no CASt in the base game.

You say 'the possibilities are endless' when you create a sim. That's great, and I'll love being able to create my friends. But that functionality is useless without being able to change the colour of their clothes, or the furniture in their bedroom. You praise the emotions that the sims have, and the personality. But you take away the tool that lets us customize EVERYTHING to fit that personality.

CASt is what lets my sims houses show who they truly are. Without it, every house would be the same. And my extroverted body builder definitely doesn't have the same taste as my introverted author. No way in HECK. If we can customize everything about our sims, we should be able to customize everything about their clothes and their houses. (Psst... and hair styles! I need my funky-coloured hair!)

Then just don't use it. The majority of people want it, so it should be included. They're not going to cater just for you. You're the first person I've seen who says that they don't want CAST.

I don't really get it.
The Sims 3 was all about endless customization and the open town.
Now they took this back and brag about 'emotions'?
In my imagination The Sims 4 looked like a life saver for me.I stopped hoping for The Sims 3 a long time ago...
Anyway I love CAST. At first I didn't. It annoyed the hell out of me. But then I fell in love with it. And that's the reason I'm still playing TS3. I can truly customize everything..
So EA bring CASt back!

Only 5 lifestages? I feel disappointment brewing... They'd better not lump baby/toddler together and YA/adult. I'll be fuming.

I won't be buying without CASt, making a house and customizing all of the furniture was what made TS3 for me. It seems like a massive step backwards if they choose not to include it. Similarly unimpressed at there being fewer age stages too

I found this, no clue if it's official or not but
https://twitter.com/ruthless_kk/sta...151694455545856

So it seems emotions may determine how the Sims perform a certain skill... as it's been said, a furious Sim would porbably perform an energetic/sports based skill well.

ETA: and I'm not sure if people are still complaining about this but because it was such a huge gripe at one point, I'd like to point out that you can control more than one Sim.

Yes, anything by ruthless is legitimate. She's a builder who's featured here and is or was (I'm not sure) a mod on the Sims 3 forums.

Here's her feed, lots of interesting bits I think:

Confirmed: no pets or weather in the base game. OK for pets, but I can't believe we'll have to wait for Seasons again. I can already see all Sims 2/3 EPs again in Sims 4.

Where was this confirmed? It sounds like a lot of parts of the game aren't finished yet.
