Default Some flaws in Windows 10
I have had Windows 10 for about 3 weeks now and last night it had a fatal error where the start menu and something else was not working and I could not get it fixed by all the things I knew how to do and after 8 hours of trying to fix it with no success I gave up and reloaded Windows 7 which I know works great for Sims 2 and Sims 2 programs.
Also with the fatal error I was not able to save anything because of the password would not work at all either in safe mode or reg. mode so I could not get access to my Sims 2 folders to save my last few days of play.

In Windows 10 I could only use the AGS games from before installing 10 and could not make any new AGS setup so going back to Windows 7 works for me.

My son is also having problems with his Windows 10 and we will need to revert his computer back to 7 also in the days to come.

To me there are still to many problems with 10 so if you have not upgraded to 10 yet I would hold off until they get it fixed.

I am wishing that I had held off and hope it is not too late to revert back to the windows version that shipped with this PC. It is possible that the recent Windows 10 updates are why I can not log into Origin. The Ultimate Collection had been working very well and now I am finding some glitches in the Maxis hoods that were not there prior to the update. I don't know if the update is the cause, however, all was well prior to it. It is a good thing that I do have all of my SIms2 backed up on the external hard drive. Again, I do not know for sure what is suddenly causing problems.

I'm thinking of reloading using discs on an older computer. However, any neighborhoods created using the UC will not work in the regular version owing to being differently formatted.

You can use UC hoods as long as you have all EP's installed in your older computer. (You may need M&G to.)

I switch between UC and my disc version all the time with no problem but I have all EP's and SP's installed.

Just remember you can not have both installed on the same computer for 1 will override the other.

I have not experienced any problems (yet) with Windows 10 myself.. Had to adapt a little (since I own a small business, my main problem was somehow with Excel, but it is fine now). Having said that, I did hear people (most non-Simmers) complaining and rolling back to Windows 7. Sims 2 (UC) runs like a dream, though, I played all the bin families in my Bin Hood last night. The latest updates did not affect anything that I can see on my system, so for now I will continue with 10.

Add : I have just tried and logged into Origin without any problems at all. (Sims 4 now has a shortcut, so it is not necessary to log into Origin anymore, must have come with the last update).

I also haven't had any problems with Windows 10. I just can't minimize the game anymore. When I want to return to desktop, I always have to quit the game entirely, which is annoying.

@Jawusa You need to have a web page open and then you should be able to minimize the game or at least that was what I had to do.

I just tried to minimize the game (not something I do too often) - and while it worked fine, the desktop icons looked a bit on the fat side with the game minimized. I guess I will have to fiddle with the settings a bit more to get everything perfect. The desktop icons look quite fine when the game is not running.

I can't access Origin either .. so I can't download any EPs I don't currently have downloaded.
Should I have left it alone and stuck with 7? Possibly .. but I was feeling daring at the time, so .. meh ..

Windows 10, Sims 4...

Meh.

Some people think their software doesn't stink.

I have had the taskbar broken a few times on my desktop, restarting my PC fixes that. Sims 2 works fine on my desktop but I need to redo my downloads again, I somehow lost some of my CC... And going to Windows 10 on my laptop is BROKEN! I have no idea why!

I updated from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 on my tablet. Now it seems to drain battery faster, is a bit more sluggish, and often I find it has completely shut off and when I check event manager, it says something about "bugcheck" caused it to shut off.
Also, my Mail tile comes and goes as it wishes.
I'll probably delay putting it on my gaming machines for awhile.

I've been eerie about upgrading. I've gotten used to Windows 8. The only thing I'm looking for is faster boot time, for Firefox not to hang/crash when using Flash and to be able to play Sims easier. I have heard a lot of bad things about Windows 10. I don't like the idea that they can remotely access your computer and force updates on you. When someone can remotely access your computer, that's powerful. I have so many files that I saved onto my external that I just can't find anymore and they could delete those files as they see fit. Too many memories to lose. Who knows? They may even delete CC because of copyright psh which would be a pain in the butt to find again. Maybe I sound paranoid but I just don't like the idea of someone watching my whole computer. I value my privacy. It's bad enough that Google tracks your searches and Apple tracks things on the Iphone which I can deal with but that's where I draw the line. We don't need Microsoft doing that too. "Free" always comes with a price. I'd rather pay for Windows 10 and have a more efficient but private computer.

Well one good note on this, after reinstalling Windows 7 and getting the updated video card drivers for my GTX 660 card I no longer need to do the .sgr changes any more.

I still have the problem with sims shadows but that is taken care of by either placing shadows down to med. or using the cheat code in my userstartup cheat file.

I get all screens sizes and smooth edges are working as they use to do with older video cards.

Nvidia drive 355.82.
